Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory: the female face of Russian politics

The Far Eastern regions of the Russian Federation are traditionally problem areas that constantly need subsidies and support from the Center. To solve problems in the Trans-Baikal Territory, the governor of which for a long time was Konstantin Ilkovsky, for a change they entrusted a strong woman. Natalya Nikolaevna Zhdanova has been stepping into her native region for two years now, trying to the best of her ability to clear up a heap of social and economic problems that she inherited from the previous leadership.

Teacher

Natalia Zhdanova was born in Chita in 1964. Her biography is quite atypical for a politician, in her youth she did not dream of state power and, like most of her peers, chose the Chita Pedagogical Institute to continue her education after school. Here she faithfully worked on foreign languages and left the walls of a reputable educational institution in 1986 with a degree in Chinese and English.

The first job for the young specialist was secondary school No. 4, which unexpectedly will become a springboard for the political career of the future governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory.

Here Natalia Zhdanova worked for many years, from 1986 to 2001. Only in 1993 did she briefly leave her native school when she was offered a job as a translator in a private company.

Already in 1995, Natalya Nikolaevna took the post of director of her native school, which by that time had acquired the status of a multidisciplinary language gymnasium.

The beginning of a political career

In 2001, Zhdanova headed the education committee in the administration of the city of Chita, from which she began her political career. In those days, she did not even suspect that in fifteen years she would become governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory. Nevertheless, Natalya Nikolaevna began conscientiously fulfilling the duties of the person responsible for education in her native city, for the time being without thinking about important government posts.
