Is it possible to transfer from full-time to part-time and vice versa?

Full-time or part-time? Every year, thousands of students are faced with the choice: to go to gain experience without wasting precious time and simultaneously getting higher education, or to study full day, learning the joys of a carefree student life. But what if the choice is already made? Is it possible to change the form of training after passing several courses? Is it possible to transfer from correspondence to full-time and vice versa? Let's find out.

Full-time students

Can I transfer from full-time to part-time?

Various family or personal circumstances push the student to transfer from full-time to part-time education. The need to find a job or rejection of the specialty being received is pushing this difficult step. But several stages of the thorny path to higher education have already been completed and leaving school would be a shame. The best option in this case is the correspondence course.

To transfer to another form of training you will need: a test book, a student card, an extract from the library about the absence of debts.

How to carry out the procedure?

Go to the dean’s office and contact the staff on the question you are interested in. They will tell you how to write a transfer application. After that, bring the documents to the commission for consideration and wait for the result. Before applying, make sure that you do not have arrears in past sessions and in the library due to books that were not delivered on time, otherwise the commission’s decision will be unsatisfactory.

If you are a diligent student, you should not worry. Another problem may be the limited number of places in the correspondence department. If the group is staffed, then most likely your only option is commerce. However, do not worry. As a rule, correspondence groups are not complete, because a greater number of students tend to get to full-time study.

After a successful transfer to the dean’s office, you should be given a sheet with the academic difference, if any. Agree with the teachers personally about the time and place where it will be more convenient for them to take the difference from you. Take care of this immediately and close all debts so that they do not interfere with you and in the future do not cause a very offensive deduction.

Is it possible to transfer from correspondence to full-time?

As a rule, correspondence students are people who, for whatever reason, could not enter full-time education. There can be various reasons for this: family circumstances, age, and so on. But a sudden opportunity to study or a sharply awakened passion for the specialty under study can push for a decisive step. Is it possible to transfer from correspondence to full-time? This is a pretty tricky question.

Of course, it is possible, but with some reservations. Firstly, if this is your second higher education, then the legislation of the Russian Federation adopted a law on obtaining the second higher solely on a commercial basis, whether full-time or part-time. Secondly, full-time students who knock out their budget places are often rather big points in the USE, are not always ready to leave their suffering places. As a rule, the full-time department is jammed to the eyeballs, and if you're out of luck, again, the only way out is commerce. Get ready for it.

Distance learning

What to do?

How to transfer from correspondence to full-time? Arm yourself with patience, perseverance and a record book - you will need them. To begin, inform the dean that you want to transfer to full-time study. If there is an identical full-time form and there are places on it - half the work is done, your candidacy will be considered. Usually, a university refuses to transfer students precisely because of a lack of places.

Next, write a transfer application and attach a copy of the grade book. Make sure that you don’t have tails and start preparing in advance for the certification that you will have to pass for translation, since it is more difficult to transfer from distance learning to full-time study than vice versa. It is better to find out in advance in what form certification will take place. It can be just an interview, where identical and similar disciplines will be re-read to you, or it will be a complete delivery of the missing disciplines.

Translation Rules

We figured out whether it is possible to transfer from correspondence to full-time and vice versa, and found out that this is possible. Here are some universal rules that will help you with any type of translation:

  1. Be diligent students, all questions with the dean's office will be resolved easier if you are in good standing.
  2. Plan your translation not in the middle of the educational process, but closer to the end of the session, it will be easier to take disciplines and not lose time.
  3. Keep in mind that in some cases a transfer is possible only with a depreciation. Decide for yourself whether you are ready to lose a year due to a transfer.
  4. In some cases, translation may only mean further training on a commercial basis. It is also worth considering that the cost of full-time education is much higher than in absentia.

Keep in mind that full-time study is not always the best option. Combine many specialties with real practice and the accumulation of experience. And before you take this crucial step in your life, weigh the pros and cons.
