Amidopyrine test - one of the control methods pre-sterilization cleaning medical instruments. After using cleaning solutions, medical instruments should not leave traces of protein, fat, blood or other contaminants. It is impossible to determine this with the naked eye: chemical reactions come to the rescue. Amidopyrine test allows you to accurately determine the presence of latent blood. Reagents
The solution for amidopyrine test can be prepared immediately before use or in advance. By placing the mixture in a bottle with a ground stopper in the refrigerator, it can be stored for one month. This is quite convenient: you do not need to waste time every time to prepare a solution.
The following substances are required for the amidopyrine test:
- a solution of hydrogen peroxide 3%;
- acetic acid solution 30%;
- alcohol solution of amidopyrine 5%.
Before use, check the expiration date of each of the reagents. Additionally, for the reaction, you will need: a beaker, a tray with dry instruments prepared for the sample, a tray with cotton swabs and pipettes. All containers used must be sterile.
Method of preparation and use
Amidopyrine test is quite easy to carry out: no special skills are required, only a strict adherence to the instructions. Having prepared all the reagents, containers and devices, you should proceed to the procedure. To do this, use the following algorithm:
- In equal amounts, mix the reagents: acetic acid (solution 30%), hydrogen peroxide (solution 3%), amidopyrine (alcohol solution 5%). In addition, each of the substances should be collected with a separate pipette marked for these purposes. For example, a pipette for a hydrogen peroxide solution should be marked as “For N2ABOUT2».
- Mix the solution. It turns a colorless liquid. Taking a separate pipette (“For reagent”), collect the mixture and apply to dry objects that have undergone pre-sterilization cleaning. The solution should be dripped evenly over the entire area of the instrument under study, including onto the body, into the internal cavity, into the lumen of the needle, etc.
- Hold the item over a sterile cloth or cotton wool, carefully monitor the color of the solution draining from the tool.
- To check the cleaning of reusable syringes, the solution is drawn into it and slowly squeezed drop by drop onto a clean cloth, observing the change in color.
At this stage, it is important to observe the sterility rules of all instruments used for preparing and applying the solution. The results of the sample should not be distorted, because in order to comply with the rules of asepsis, in particular, an amidopyrine test is necessary. Infections that may be contained in blood residues often become a serious threat to the life and health of the population.
Sample completion
After applying the reagent to the tools for a minute, you need to evaluate the result. If staining occurs within 60 seconds, the sample is considered positive. A change in color after 1 minute does not count. A positive amidopyrine test is determined if the solution turns purple (blue-green). Negative - if the shade of the solution has not changed after applying it to the toolkit.
After obtaining the results in case of detection of blood residues (positive test), the entire batch of instruments is again subjected to pre-sterilization cleaning.If the color of the liquid has not changed, then the tested instrument is immersed in a soap solution. Then the entire batch is sent for sterilization by the established method.
Amidopyrine test has an effect similar to an indicator, it is sensitive to blood components. There are a number of requirements for pre-sterilization cleaning. No traces of fat, blood, soapy water, or other foreign matter should remain on the instruments. Various samples help to check the quality of cleaning. Amidopyrine is one of them.
