Greece is a beautiful country that has a large layer of picturesque islands. Many of them have long been abandoned and deserted, but there are others, for example, Antikythera. This is a picturesque corner of the Greek state, which has several industries on its territory, a beautiful port town and diverse nature. True, this place is faced with the problem of a lack of residents. At the moment, only 20 citizens live there, which is catastrophically small. This ruins the economy and the viability of Antikythera, so the authorities decided by all means to rectify the situation.

The first step towards the restoration of existence was an advertising company that showed videos and interesting places on this island. Then the government approved monthly subsidies of up to 500 euros in the first three years of residence. This is more than enough to live in Greece, especially in this area. In the future, the authorities plan to provide additional benefits for residents who will officially become citizens of Antikythera.
The priority is Greek citizens who do not really want to move there. Citizens from other countries are considered separately, but a prerequisite is employment, learning the local language and paying all necessary taxes. But against the background of the specified subsidy, there will be no problems with payment.
Island problems
We should not forget about the negative sides of this place, which are primarily associated with the lack of any entertainment infrastructure. All you can do on the island is just to stroll against the backdrop of beautiful nature. There is another negative point that relates to transport communications. The fact is that Antikythera is connected to the mainland with just one ferry. And in case the weather starts, it will be difficult to get somewhere.
If we take food supply and electricity into account, then there are no problems with this, but there is no normal and stable Internet. And all the work on the island is associated exclusively with physical labor. But the main feature of this territory is the presence of hot springs and an abundance of historical places. Recently, many archaeologists have appeared on the island who find amazing things.
Should I go there?
It will not be so easy to answer such a question, first of all, because of the remoteness and the presence of negative conditions. But if you love nature, and you don’t really need modern technologies, then Antikyfera will be a wonderful option for future life. But it’s worth understanding that the first three years will live well, and then you will have to look for your own source of income. And within the framework of limited employment, this will not always be easy.
Recently, there is often information that territories are starting to empty. Residents simply leave the picturesque islands and leave for large cities. They do this because of a difficult life, which limits opportunities and even freedom. Personally, I would never go to such a place, although I love nature. What do you say?
