The city estate of Vladimir Vasilyevich Dumnov was built by the architect and engineer Shcheglov in 1887. The building was substantially rebuilt under the next owner, Nikolai Markov.

In 1896, the new owner took up the active reconstruction of the city estate. It was as a result of this restructuring that the building acquired modern features and distinctive features - bright modernist elements in the decor of both interiors and the facade.

After the manor was nationalized, it housed the German diplomatic mission, which was replaced in the post-war period by the Dutch embassy in Moscow. The residence of the Dutch ambassador to Russia is located in the same building.
