Grandmother left a picture to her granddaughter. The girl kept her for many years, not even suspecting that she was worth a fortune

How many of us did not inherit from our grandmother tea sets, wall carpets and other junk, which is a pity to throw away, and you can’t write into the design of a modern apartment? When family members pass family heirlooms from generation to generation, it is often difficult to understand how valuable they are beyond their basic sentimental value.

Gift from grandmother

One girl received a picture from her granny, which for the latter made a lot of sense. The girl did not immediately understand what treasure she was holding in her hands. Everything, as often happens in life, turned out quite by accident.

Grandmother handed a picture to her granddaughter, saying that this work is a reproduction of the rarest picture in the world. True, it is inexpensive. But much more important is its sentimental value. The girl did not attach special importance to these words.

One day, looking at the picture, she saw a dead mosquito. The unfortunate insect spoiled the look of artwork, so the girl decided to remove the glass in order to remove the impartial sight. Having removed the glass, the new owner of the painting doubted that she was only a copy in front of her: the work was very similar to the original.

Intrigue

Literally in a matter of minutes, she found a specialist who had previously evaluated the work and said that he had almost 100% confidence that this was a real picture, and not her craft. After the work of the famous artist was evaluated at the popular show Roadshow, the girl burst into tears because she did not expect that a dead mosquito could bring her such a state.

The picture was with my grandmother when she was only 19 years old. And she was immediately the most valuable item throughout her life. She hung over the bed for decades and left the acquired place only when the grandmother decided to give the painting to her granddaughter.

The painting depicts a surprisingly peaceful Native American tribe heading along a rocky mountain trail. The work belongs to the famous American artist of French descent Henry Francois Farney. He was a very sought-after artist of his time. He focused all his attention on his peaceful existence, despite the fact that the artist’s life at that time was generously “seasoned” with military operations.

Real value

When it came to the mosquito, experts estimated the work at 200-300 dollars. Now that it has become clear that this is an original painting, it can be sold at auction for 200 or 300 thousand dollars. Of particular value is the work for connoisseurs of the American artist. This picture dates back to the time when François reached the limit of his fame.
