"The menu is still being printed, sir," a blogger faces a jail for this post

A well-known blogger on social networks almost went to jail after he shared a post on the manuscript menu, where he made fun of him. Rius Vernandez was on a Garuda flight in Indonesia when he was offered a menu on a piece of paper that looked like he had been torn out of a notebook. The blogger posted the photo on Instagram with 90,000 subscribers and signed: “The menu is still being printed, sir.” He did not expect this to take such a serious turn.

Instead of a trip, a prison

After his photograph on social networks, the message became viral, and numerous bullying from Indonesian users fell on the airline.

A couple of days later, Rius posted another photo with a letter from the Indonesian police stating that the airline director sued him and his bride for defamation. In his social networks, Vernandez said that at first there could be no conflict at all, because he was even apologized to Garuda. The airline admitted that an error occurred, and the menu was not intended for passengers.

“They apologized to me about this. I really was not angry or something like that. I just did what I usually do - examined the plane. He shared everything that happened on board. That’s all, ”said the blogger on Instagram.

What is the matter?

Garuda later tweeted to clarify the situation.

“We wanted to inform that this was not a list of menus for passengers, but a personal note for cabin crew, which should not have been published. Thank you, ”wrote on behalf of the Garuda flight, Indonesia.

Rius Vernandez believed that everything bad was already behind, but later said that he and his bride were sued for defamation of this post.

“We were informed of false information. “I think you know, I was not going to offend anyone,” says the traveler blogger. “I hope for your help and support in this problem, because I don’t want a future where we simply will take something for granted, afraid to give some criticism, and our behavior may be blamed on breaking the law and crime.”

The police confirmed the fact that the airline sued the blogger-traveler.

In this country, material containing incorrect information and posted on the Internet is a crime for which you can be imprisoned for up to four years.

Since the advent of the photograph, the Garuda menu has forbidden passengers to take photos or shoot videos during the flight and upload them to social networks. This prohibition has been criticized. They later said they had canceled the new policy, but said that people on board would be warned about the confidentiality of other passengers on board, and it would be better if they did not take photos while on the plane.

“You can take personal photos, for example, selfies, if they do not cause inconvenience to other passengers,” said Ihsan Rozan, representative of Garuda.

Perhaps for each of us this story will serve as a lesson. Before you make a spontaneous act, you need to think about whether this will create problems in the future.
