Never give up - this is the secret to the success of an immigrant who has become a multimillionaire

In his 20 years, Dan Lock has accumulated $ 150,000 in debt. For three years, he implemented 13 business ideas, each of which failed. Today, Lock is a wealthy man and mentor for aspiring entrepreneurs. All thanks to the help of one person and his own perseverance!

Personal story

Locke's parents divorced when the boy was 14 years old. In the same year, he and his mother emigrated from Hong Kong to Vancouver (Canada). Father continued to provide them for some time. However, when Loku turned 16, the parent filed for bankruptcy and was no longer able to support his son and ex-wife.

“I can never forget the hopelessness expressed on my mother’s face and the tears in her eyes,” says Locke. “At that moment, I decided that I would succeed. I no longer needed a father, I had to take care of my mother. I didn't want to see her doomed look anymore. ”

To help his mother, the young man got a part-time job at a grocery store. There he received a minimum salary. A year later, Locke received an instructive lesson: “I was told that I was fired because I don’t like being told what to do.” Lock could not refute this statement.

Lessons learned from losses

Locke mowed the lawns, delivered newspapers and took on everything that gave at least the slightest opportunity to earn. After school, he went to Douglas College in Vancouver. The young man attended business classes, trying to realize various entrepreneurial ideas: from vending machines to delivery services. But they all failed one after another.

Lock issued and emptied several credit cards and borrowed from everyone he knew. Despite such depressing circumstances, he was in no hurry to look for work. The young man explained his position: “I knew that I could never repay my debts and provide for my family, working for someone for a meager salary. I was sure that I could realize myself as an entrepreneur, even if it takes a decade. I never "I didn’t give up because I couldn’t afford to give up everything. If you don’t stop halfway, then you won’t fail."

Locke calls his first ventures in the business environment "lessons learned from losses." The young man is convinced that success borders on defeat. His advice: "When you think that things can’t get any worse, be patient a little more."

Garbage collection for a dream

After Locke read Claude Hopkins' book “Science Ads,” he became obsessed with marketing. Soon he was interested in another expert in this field - Alan Jacques. The future multimillionaire studied his works and attended seminars. There he met Jacques in person.

After the next lesson, Locke suggested that Jacques have lunch and received consent. They talked for several hours. During the conversation, Locke asked Alan Jacques to become his mentor, but the marketer refused. Locke was not discouraged: “I went to his office every day for a month. I did my best to demonstrate my willingness to help. I even collected garbage near the office! And he finally hired me.”

Locke dropped out of college to work with Jacques. He spent several weeks writing a sales letter, but the manager found the job terrible. Lock transcribed it seven times before Jacques satisfied his work.

Although working with Jacques Locke did not earn a lot of money, he claims that a year of such experience greatly influenced his financial well-being. The young man calls him nothing other than "the first millionth year." Under the leadership of Jacques Locke founded an advertising agency and within 12 months his customers received millions of dollars thanks to advertising letters.By the age of 22, the young immigrant earned about $ 10,000 for the project and confidently went to six-figure numbers.

The game was worth the candle

“Finally, I was able to provide my mother,” the young man says. “Mentoring from Alan dramatically changed my life. And now I myself conduct classes for young entrepreneurs every day."

A few years later, Dan Lock first returned to Hong Kong to visit his father. The man was worried that he had nowhere to live. Walking down the street, Lock stopped and pointed to the window. He pulled out a bunch of keys and said: “I bought this apartment for you.” The expression on his father's face once again convinced the young man that the struggle was not in vain.

Young millionaire

Dan Lock invested in real estate from his Internet business and became a millionaire at age 27. Since at that moment his business no longer required the founder’s daily presence, he was suspended for some time and set off to “live a dream.” For a month, Lock spent almost every day on the beach, and then spent another month watching films. He watched about 6 paintings daily. Two months of such rest was enough.

Locke decided to share his knowledge. So he created the marketing guide, Forbidden Psychological Tactics. In an effort to sell his manuscript, Dan mastered Internet marketing. He continued to improve as a marketer: he sold information products and created software for copywriters.

Over the next decade, Locke himself founded and collaborated with more than 15 companies in various industries: from beauty salons to e-commerce. Today, their total sales for the year exceed eight-digit numbers. Lock attributes this success to three things that he lacked at the beginning of his career: mentoring, concentration, “high-income skills,” such as copywriting, marketing, and public speaking.

Biggest regret

When Locke's father suffered a blow, the entrepreneur was in the United States, making his biggest deal. "I wanted my dad to be proud of me, so I told him that I would come as soon as I finish work. This was my last conversation with him. I never said goodbye to my father, and this is my biggest disappointment."

Motivation

“I realized that the pursuit of money and achievements does not make me happy. In an instant, all this began to mean much less,” Dan Lock shares his experiences.

Businessman motivation has changed. Now they were driven not by a desire to provide for their family, but by a desire to enable people around the world to change their lives and achieve financial stability. Now his mission is to train young entrepreneurs. Every day, Lock shares his experience and tells novice businessmen how to develop high income skills and independently determine and achieve their financial ceiling.

Extensive activities

Lock invests a tremendous amount of time in teaching others on his social media channels and on the Dan Lok Show podcast. Through video series and programs such as Ask Dan on Demand, Lock teaches his followers how to grow their business through social media.

The millionaire has written over a dozen books. His latest work: “Unlock it!” (Eng. Unlock it!) Hits the shelves in stores in September 2019.

Lock is also the founder of the Closers.com platform, which brings together companies and closers (high-level specialists in closing deals).

Wife support

Loka's wife Jenny went along with him this way, being his main assistant. After meeting at karaoke, when Dan was 26 years old, they started dating and working together.

“Her intuition and instincts are second to none,” says Locke. “She is grounding me. I remember returning home after my first speech at TEDx. I was wearing a red suit and feeling at the top of the world. At that moment, Jenny asked me to take out the trash. I like it. "

Although Locke is a multimillionaire and international speaker, he does not forget his roots. "Who would have thought that a poor immigrant boy could do that?" - He asks a question. Dan Lock is convinced that no matter where you are and whatever obstacles you face, you can achieve anything if you never give up.
