Traveling is always an opportunity to meet new people, places and cultures, but what if you look at travel as an opportunity to change the world? The Oceania expedition sets itself this task, which is looking for initiative and extraordinary young people who are ready to join a two-year trip, the purpose of which is to find solutions to global problems.

Project Description

“We are looking for 5 extraordinary, fearless and proactive young people, women and men aged 20 to 30, who are ready to work outdoors with irregular schedules; candidates who can listen and work in a team,” the Oceania expedition team announces the possibility make a trip that is really worth the effort. The travel objectives relate to poverty reduction, improving education and health, gender equality, protecting the oceans, forests and species diversity, and finding solutions to tackle hunger, inequality, climate change and water scarcity. These goals are linked to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the UN as part of the 2030 Agenda, and they are based on five key themes: planet, people, prosperity, peace and partnerships.

How will the trip go?

The Oceania Blue Sea expedition will cover an area of ​​50,000 kilometers and 80 countries where a dialogue will be held with more than 1,500 scientists, whose goal will be to find concrete solutions to problems affecting almost all of humanity directly or indirectly. The trip will take place on Aquarela, a scientific research ship with everything you need to work, and environmental scientists will be able to join some stages of the trip and thus look for local solutions to global problems.

Multimedia component

The Oceania project is quite ambitious and involves reaching a much larger number of people through the creation of multimedia content: documentary series, science fiction series, concert, as well as other television formats.

The Oceania expedition will feature talented employees such as:

  • Sergio Oksman will be responsible for directing a documentary series in which young people of this project will participate. His work has been featured at hundreds of international festivals where he has earned several awards.
  • Alejandro Bazzano, director of the science fiction series. Previously directed TV shows and movies such as Paper House, Sea of ​​Plastic, Secrets of Laura and others.
  • Mario Picazo, an expert on climate and meteorology. He has been involved in a number of climate-related media projects.

Candidate Requirements

To participate in the program, you need artistic graduates of educational institutions aged 20 to 30 years, ready to travel for two years and become the main characters of the documentary series, fluent in English and Spanish, loving nature and disposed to study. Although sailing experience is not needed, it would be great if the candidates did not have seasickness. You must be prepared to devote two years of your life to this program, which will begin on November 3, 2019 and end on July 15, 2021. The problems that humanity is currently facing have never been so serious, so the specificity of this program goes beyond the usual pleasures and is rather aimed at establishing contact and cooperation in order to develop applicable solutions arising from tangible problems.
