Matt Schumer's Success Story: From Ordinary Developer to Successful Leader

Many years ago, when Matt Schumer, the founder and CEO of Visos, first tested virtual reality (VR), he immediately realized that this underrated technology would change the world. Today, he is the head of a startup to create the world's most powerful standalone virtual reality headset. But he began his first steps in the business with the resale of shoes on eBay.

Game against the rules

Why are we talking about a certain Matt Sumer? Because he is a prime example of how to achieve business success from scratch. Without cronyism and parental patronage, in harsh competition. He is still so young, and already boasts great achievements.

From childhood, Matt did not behave like the others. When the family sat down to play board games, he was not very interested. The boy tried to improve them, to make them more dynamic. Spending time with friends, he did everything so that they were carried away by those things that he was fond of. Mother once exclaimed: “Why don't you always play according to the rules?” This is the essence of Sumer - to invent his own rules of the game.

Insight

Mattu once boasted a friend that he had acquired Nike's signature purple sneakers. They were 5 sizes larger. Schumer wondered why he needed them. A friend said: "I resell them on the Internet twice as much." “Could it be like that?” Matt probably thought so. It was as if enlightenment had visited him. Now he understood where to direct his boiling energy.

A few days later, a 12-year-old teenager began his first business project. Without further ado, he decided, like a friend, to resell shoes on eBay. Quickly realizing that this was pampering, he organized a team of like-minded people and created his own online store. A month later, he already had 10,000 subscribers and a decent amount of active customers. However, due to a technical malfunction, the site “flew”. While it was being restored, and restored for more than a month, people fled.

Fall to rise

The blow was discouraging, but not disarming. In 2015, Sumer opened a project for the sale of tennis rackets. He managed to agree on direct deliveries with large companies. However, he was surprised that sports equipment is very expensive at a penny cost. The idea was born to establish the production of inexpensive rackets for the mass consumer. The project is already entering the implementation phase.

In parallel, Matt began to study the basics of business at the School of Management of the University of Syracuse. There was a powerful startup support team. Taking the opportunity, the guy organized his most successful and largest business project. He created Visos to promote virtual reality in the corporate space.

The team has already achieved significant success by establishing partnerships with some of the largest brands. The project involved consultants and world-class developers. We are witnessing the creation of an ecosystem that represents the future of VR. The goal is to introduce new scenarios for using virtual reality that were previously impossible. For example, cooperation has been established with the market leader Neuro Rehab VR. The company uses virtual reality in many areas, including in medicine. For example, VR is used to provide innovative treatments for patients with neurological problems, including Alzheimer's disease.

“No” is often said before saying “Yes”

Matt Schumer, although young, is ready to share useful tips. First of all, do not be afraid of the word "no." If you are persistent and persuasive, they will open the door to the business for you and say yes.

Also, do not try to drag everything on yourself. Build a team of like-minded people you can rely on. And finally be obsessed. Devote enough time to your business, work with a twinkle in your eyes, infect others with your optimism. Believe in success!
