Having talked with hundreds of owners of dollar millions, the American journalist found out that, it turns out, most of them prefer the same columns of fixed costs. Get acquainted with the five predictable things that people who have achieved great material success depend on.
1. Travel
In the column of their main regular expenses, 60 out of a hundred millionaires mentioned travel. Of course, this will not surprise anyone, but still we could assume that real estate or jewelry would come first, but the rich also know how to be romantics and try to invest money not in things, but in memories (especially since they certainly have something to invest).
Explaining why they did not feel sorry for the huge amounts spent on travel, the respondents said about the same thing: they like to look at the world, get new experience and realize that even if they lose all their wealth, they will keep all their memories with them. But the styles of travel for all were different.
One of the surveyed millionaires was born in the United States and considers the best vacation to study his native country. He finds for himself and his family amazing places in every state - for example, the last time they traveled through the mountains of Colorado.
Another respondent prefers a more classic holiday, every three months going to the sea in Hawaii, the Caribbean or Mexico and always staying at the best hotel.
One of the millionaires even called the amount he spends annually on a trip to different countries: $ 45,000! He is sure that just so much is needed in order to plunge as deeply as possible into the culture of the whole state.
But more than half of the respondents said that they love cruises and that they prefer to spend their money on them. A prerequisite is the presence of a balcony in the cabin, because no wealth is worth the view that opens from the upper deck of the cruise ship.
2. Food
Of course, this item is significantly inferior to travel in popularity - of the hundreds of millionaires surveyed, only 35 mentioned that they like to spend money on good food and willingly do it.
Sometimes millionaires meant high restaurant cuisine, and sometimes they talked about good home-made food. Someone called their gastronomic addictions hedonism, because bills from the most luxurious restaurants and culinary make up their largest expense item. They believe that in the matter of delicious food you can not compromise.
Not without mentioning the amounts - one of the respondents said that for his family the norm is to spend $ 250 per person for one trip to the restaurant every couple of months - this, for a second, is almost 16,000 rubles.
And those who prefer home cooking almost always called cooking their favorite pastime. Do you think cooks are prepared exclusively for millionaires? It turned out that not always, and some respondents said that they like to spend time in the kitchen with their wives, mastering new recipes. Judging by what they cook, in these kitchens there is an abundance of fresh meat, expensive cheeses, seafood, wines, exotic fruits and vegetables, and a lot of dark chocolate.
3. Cars
Probably, this seems like a rather predictable point, but only fifteen million out of a hundred recorded cars at a regular, enjoyable and devastating expense point.
Explaining their position, respondents said different things.Someone with Ferrari, Porsche and Chevrolet Corvette just loves to drive a good car, but plans to get rid of these cars by retirement age in order to reduce costs. Several other millionaires expressed their passion for German cars, considering it mandatory to have at least two classic “carriages” in the garage - Mercedes and BMW.
Well, everyone else - and this, of course, most of them - turned out to be collectors of old and rare, or just very expensive cars. Some do not even drive the “residents” of their fleets, but simply admire them.
4. Wine
It would seem that where good food, there should be excellent wine, but only nine out of a hundred millionaires mentioned it on their lists.
One of the respondents shared his secret desire to have a large wine cellar. He understands that even for him this can become a very expensive hobby, but he still drinks one bottle a week and acquires rare specimens on special occasions several times a year.
Another interviewed millionaire has already collected a good collection of fifty bottles purchased at various wineries as a travel souvenir.
Found among nine respondents and winemakers, whose money for the most part goes to create homemade wine, and not to purchase and consume.
Well, everyone else just said that they like the taste of outstanding grape fermentation products, and therefore regularly spend large amounts on one or another expensive bottle almost every day.
5. Clothing
Seven out of a hundred millionaires surveyed mentioned clothing as something they often spend their money on. Yes, this, of course, is a very small result, but it was he who ranked fifth in popularity, as further answers either did not repeat at all, or, as you might guess, were mentioned less than seven times.
Someone wrote that he was serious about choosing clothes because of his work related to management, someone mentioned that he was worried about buying new shoes, shirts, ties and suits, and someone was thinking about buying expensive designer clothes as the next collectibles and the envy of others.
And what else?
At least a little personality in the lists of regular expenses of the rich of this world, we can see among the things that were repeated two to six times in an interview with hundreds of respondents. These include:
