From reading and watching movies to talking with colleagues. What can lead to burnout in the workplace: the opinion of a psychologist

When people face emotional burnout, they blame the job in most cases. However, everyday habits may be to blame, because of which we feel tired, are in a bad mood, get annoyed and angry over trifles. The advice of a psychologist will help solve this problem.

Wrong habits

Many people literally overload their brain with information. In the office, on the way to work and home, in the evenings they read books and magazines, watch movies and TV shows, listen to music. A great threat is the habit of spending a lot of time communicating on social networks. The brain just does not have time to relax.

People do not allow themselves to focus on work. They are constantly distracted by talking with colleagues, talking on the phone, checking email. As a result, the brain does not cope with the information that it has to process. It takes a lot of time to focus on business again. Obviously, this negatively affects labor productivity.

Keep quiet

Spending some time in silence is easy if you are at home. But this task seems impossible during a stay in a noisy and crowded office. However, in this case, do not give up. You can use headphones to protect against noise. Explain to your colleagues that you always wear them when you are busy with important and urgent work. Ask not to disturb you at such moments, if it is not about really serious things.

The problem of phone calls in the office can also be solved. Try to convince your colleagues to talk on the phone in an office specifically designated for this purpose. For example, it could be a meeting room.

If you have the opportunity, choose the right job. Have your table set so that you don’t see your colleagues set off to drink coffee. This will help you not to be distracted from work and overload your brain with unnecessary information.

Choose the right time

Pay attention to what time of day you are easier and faster to do business. You can work better in the morning, feel a surge of energy toward the evening, and so on. It’s best to plan the most important things for the time when you’re most set to work.

It is also important to consider the situation in the office. For example, in the morning hours, silence may reign in the classrooms, while closer to dinner the noise rises. A time of silence is ideal for tasks that require maximum concentration. When the office is noisy, you can perform simple tasks that do not require excessive effort. This will help you to avoid long pauses in work, and your to-do list will be reduced faster.

When you are at the peak of productivity, do not do things that are not important and urgent, they don’t give you anything. Spend this time with maximum benefit.

Take breaks

From time to time, your brain should take a break from the information that comes literally from everywhere. A few years ago, people were forced to make such pauses. For example, they did not do anything when they were waiting for transport at a bus stop, when they had breaks in work, and so on.

Technological progress has deprived humanity of such an opportunity. Now people spend every free minute to check mail, chat on social networks, hang on the phone, play games. Many people use electronic devices even when they take a bath.

It may seem that our favorite books, films, music, games provide us with relaxation. In reality, such entertainments only provide the brain with additional information, the volume of which it cannot cope with. As a result, we begin to complain about burnout.

Develop a good habit of doing nothing for at least an hour daily. Do not turn on the TV and computer, do not listen to music, do not read, do not talk. Relax, allow yourself to reflect on abstract things, dream. If you find it difficult to immediately spend an hour in peace and quiet, start with a few minutes a day. Just look out the window at this time or take a short walk. Gradually, you will remember how pleasant it is to plunge into yourself, to dream. You will notice that you start to get tired less, recover faster, maintain a good mood throughout the day.
