Headings

The lack of specific goals and objectives is the reason that annoys employees more than a bad boss

We spend most of our day at the workplace, and there is hardly an employee who has never experienced stress during working hours. In fact, a recent survey conducted by the Comparably Culture and Career Monitoring website showed that for 65% of employees, stress was a problem, and 10% admitted that increased stress levels had “undesirable effects”.

Poll

Researchers asked employees from various professional fields what they were most worried about at the workplace, as well as several other issues regarding the balance between work and personal life, distractions, career stability, etc.

What bothers employees the most? Interestingly, not a low salary, poor manager or office policies were the main cause of employee stress. 41 percent of participants called uncertain work goals their greatest stress in the workplace.

Other reasons

The second most common cause of stress in the office was an uncomfortable trip to work and a poor manager. Complicated colleagues and a long working day also followed these problems.

Well, a feeling of stress in the office for a longer time will inevitably affect employee productivity and health. Judging by the statistics of the study, half of the participants, both men and women, admitted that they feel too tired at their own workplace.

According to the study, 59 percent of participants who feel exhausted worked in entry-level positions. 56 percent of professionals with experience from one to three years and from six to ten years reported that they feel the same way. In addition, 54 percent of participants with work experience of three to six or more than ten years also admitted that they were mentally burned out.

Deciphering stress levels according to work profile

Participants in the administration, customer support, and executive positions reported that they felt more stressed due to their unclear work goals than those working in other areas.

Personal life

More than half of the respondents voted for the balance between work and personal life as the first or second most important thing in their professional activities, and preferred it over compensation and a stable career. It is interesting to note that professionals from the age groups 26–30, 36–40, and 41–45 years old estimated the balance between work and personal life as the most important work and benefit.

Employee Concerns

Participants were also asked what was their greatest fear of work. The answers were pretty similar to each other. 45 percent admitted that it was a stagnation in their careers, 23 percent spoke of a complete loss of strength due to stress, and 19 percent feared that they would be ignored and never be promoted to a more serious post.

Obviously, there are many causes of nervousness and stress at work, but they are the ones that serve as the basis for further fears and problems. First of all, you need to deal with the root, that is, decide for yourself whether you need such work that brings stress?
