Some companies have a strict dress code, which may cost employees a workplace if not complied with. A similar situation was encountered by a girl who was forced to leave a well-paid job on the eve of a raise, because her superiors considered that she dresses like a man.
Not colleagues, but family
The young woman got a job in one of the restaurants of the Chile chain, which differ in that a relaxed atmosphere reigns there. The girl did not hide from anyone that she was non-traditional sexual orientation and therefore wears clothes that can hardly be called feminine. She preferred to wear men's shirts and trousers, but nobody in the team, like the restaurant management, was confused. Here, the girl was able to find many good friends, and the whole team became for her like a second family.
The girl managed in the two years that she worked in a restaurant to work in many positions. She was a cook, a forwarder, and an administrator. Most of all, she remembered the work as a waiter, and she always received only positive customer reviews and generous tips.
Offered a raise
An executive and friendly employee was noticed by the boss and suggested that she go on training under the new manager training program. This would allow the heroine to get a promotion, which, of course, she was very pleased. The girl raised a child alone and, more than anything else, dreamed of acquiring her own housing. An increase would be her salvation, because her salary would increase, and she could buy an apartment.
Unsuitably dressed
The young woman happily went to the seminar, which would be the first step towards the realization of her dreams. She dressed very neatly and in accordance with corporate etiquette. She was wearing a shirt, fitted jacket, formal trousers and pumps. It was the usual clothes for the heroine, she always dressed like that and felt very confident in her. But only all the clothes had a clearly masculine cut, and this caused discontent among the leaders of the seminar.
The district manager, seeing the girl, directly told her that she did not dress properly and should look more feminine. The girl did not pay attention to his words and still filed an application to become a certified shift supervisor. She did not even suspect that the choice of outfit would put an end to her career.
At the interview with the district manager, the girl behaved courageously. He told her that he would accept her for a new position, provided that she dressed as a representative of her gender. The girl said, does this mean that he wants to see her in a dress with a deep neckline? The manager said that she misunderstood him, but should show her femininity with the help of clothes. The girl was disappointed that she was refused a promotion because of her appearance, and decided to leave the company altogether.
I had to quit work
The heroine of history admits that she was very hurt by the fact that she had to leave her favorite place of work and leave all her friends who became her real family. But she could not come to terms with the fact that to raise her she was forced to dress in a way that was uncomfortable for her and as she was not used to. Of course, she was most disappointed that she had to say goodbye to the dream of buying a home and postpone it indefinitely.
The girl found herself another place of work and began to build a career there. It is not known how long it will take her to deserve a raise. Now her salary is much less than in the last place. But she does not despair.According to her, it is better to get less money and spend some more time on building a career than to break your personality. She would never have been able to come to terms with the fact that every day she had to step over her convictions and put on what she herself was inconvenient to, and her boss seemed right.
