For admission to the university, to the faculty, in the specialty "prosecutorial and investigative work" entrance examinations are taken:
- oral exam on the history of Russia;
- oral test in science;
- written exam in Russian language and literature.
A medical examination and testing by a psychologist is also undergoing.
Candidates must pass the required physical standards:
- persons who have not served and who have served - pulling up at least 7 times, running 100 meters in 14.8 seconds, and also cross 3 km in time up to 13.3 minutes;

In honor of this, in 2013, the official Day of the Worker of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was established, and since 2014 it received the status of the official Day of the Worker of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
Legislative changes
Work as a military investigator assumed the status of a military. However, on 01.01.2017, the investigating authorities left the Ministry of Defense. Now they are completely subordinate to the Investigative Committee.
Previously, employees working in military investigation departments had double ranks and statuses. The military investigator was both a military serviceman and a justice officer. In the military prosecutor’s office, employees were subordinate to the prosecutor general’s office and were employees of the Ministry of Defense. Since January 2017, there is no more dual status.
