The North-West Administrative District of Moscow is the 1st of 12 districts of the Russian capital. It is abbreviated as SZAO. This district consists of 12 districts. In the North-West Administrative District, there are from 15 to 20 industrial facilities and research and development centers. By the standards of Moscow, this is a very low figure. The areas of production such as electronics, mechanical engineering, and light industry are best developed. The largest enterprises are:

The district is headed by Prefect Pashkov Alexey Anatolevich. He was appointed to this position in April 2015. The previous prefect was Goverdovsky Vladimir Vyacheslavovich. He led the district from April 2012 to April 2015.

Since the North-Western Administrative District was created recently, the population statistics reflect only the latest trends that have taken place in the northwestern part of Moscow.

A large number of ponds and green spaces contribute to improving the environmental situation. Among the districts: 4 are environmentally friendly, and the other four are acceptable according to the criteria of environmental well-being.

The main source of air pollution is motor vehicles. His contribution is 90 percent. The dirtiest roads in the district are the Moscow Ring Road and Volokolamsk Highway. On other routes, emissions of harmful substances are much less.

Thus, the North-Western administrative district is the most favorable and calm of all the districts of the Russian capital. The largest number of green spaces is concentrated here. Many residents come here on vacation. There are few enterprises in the okrug, and the main contribution to air pollution is made by motor vehicles.
