But many of them, and after going on a well-deserved rest, continue to work. Some are out of need, receiving an increase in the minimum pension. Others are out of habit, just not to sit at home alone, but to be in a team. Therefore, job placement for pensioners is not only a way to get additional funds, but also the opportunity to communicate with people, live in society, as before.
About health
Retirement is not the end of working life. The state helps in employing older people. Now pensioners are an active social layer. The reasons for this are manifold. For example, over the past few decades, public health has improved. Therefore, the average age of the population has increased. Although the position of pensioners in modern Russia is not as optimal as in Japan and Western Europe. But comparing the Russians of 50-60 years living now with their grandparents of the mid-twentieth century, a significant breakthrough in improving the situation is obvious. And many think that the official employment of pensioners is an indispensable event at the next stage of life.
Negative ratio
Another reason for the general employment of older people is demography. In European countries, including Russia, due to the low birth rate and an increase in average life expectancy, the ratio between the able-bodied population and pensioners is becoming increasingly unfavorable for the economy. A general trend has been the increase in the term of employment. For example, after the next reform, Belarus will increase the retirement age by 5 years. This reduces financial pressure and reduces labor shortages. However, at the same time, it increases social tension. A softer policy boils down to the fact that the state allows older people to retire, but encourages them to continue to work, helping in the process of employing retirees.
Financial issue
Among the main reasons for the continuation of labor activity are the difficult economic situation and insufficient pensions. A significant part of the already small pension goes to food and medicine, utility bills and other mandatory expenses. And there are children and grandchildren. There is only one way out - to continue to work.

These and many other reasons make the Russians put off their well-deserved rest, which is called until better times, and work. Employment of pensioners is a common occurrence. In recent years, the number of elderly people in Russia has reached almost 40 million. Of these, nearly two-thirds have retired from old age. At the same time, a considerable part of the elderly (almost 10 million) are still working. This is clearly related to the position of the state and incentive measures. For example, all obstacles to the employment of Russians in retirement age were removed.
A significant influence was played by the country's economic development at the beginning of the 21st century. Against this background, even periodic crises did not radically change the situation. The serious labor shortage that has arisen in recent decades has increased the demand for experienced specialists. As a result, the scale of workload of pensioners was constantly expanding. Such a number of legally working elderly people, as now, has not been noted over the entire period of the country's recent history.
Employment
A businessman who is recruiting staff for a company does not have the legal right to refuse a Russian citizen work because of his age, therefore, people who have reached a certain age have the same opportunities to get a certain position as other residents of the country. Employment of pensioners is exactly the same stage in life as that of younger residents of the country.
In Art. 59 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, it is indicated that Russians who retire (women from 55 years old and men from 60 years old), as well as those who, due to their health level, are not able to carry out certain activities for a long time, can go to work only by urgent agreement ( up to 5 years), that is, for a certain time prescribed in the contract.
Opportunities
The rules for employing retirees are the same as for residents of non-retirement age. An elderly person, of course, must be able to work in terms of health, and must also comply with the simplest requirements for entering the service. It is forbidden to give a negative answer only because of the age of the candidate. Art. 3 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation allows any able-bodied resident of the country to work. There are few exceptions. Only state bodies can work up to 60 years.
With a pensioner who enters the service, you can sign a fixed-term employment contract on general terms. With those who went on a well-deserved rest by age, such an employment agreement is signed only on the basis of mutual agreement.
Military pensioners
The employment of military pensioners differs from the employment of civilians:
- Unlike civilian pensioners, the military can no longer serve in the old place, at best in the immediate areas (security, private security agencies, etc.). But, as a rule, they have to retrain without fail.
- The "preferential" age of retirement leads to the fact that among them there are many workers.
- The vast majority of military pensioners are men.
Based on these factors, the list of very important, but intractable problems for a significant number of military pensioners includes issues of employment and employment. The problem of finding work for military pensioners is very important not because of the financial aspect, but rather because of the ability to continue working and not feel divorced from society. Indeed, most of the former officers leave the army, having not yet exhausted their reserves, having mastered the ability to effectively study new areas of work, to dynamically improve in the professional aspect.
Work for seniors
Currently, a variety of courses, part-time jobs, temporary or permanent jobs, vocational schools and more are organized for pensioners. It remains only to decide what to do. There are many options for working in retirement. For example, you can:

- to receive training for pensioners with subsequent employment;
- to do needlework, crafts and sell their creations;
- become a private master in the repair of computers, household appliances;
- master one of the Internet professions;
- work on the employment program for pensioners.
Programs for seniors
In modern Russia, there are various programs to help pensioners. For example, measures are being taken to allocate additional material assistance to older people. After all, far from all Russians can afford a good, nutritious diet, and at this age, special attention should be paid to the proper diet.
The state and some businessmen are trying in any way to help older people and improve their situation. To do this, organize special training and employment programs for pensioners, provide preferential conditions for payment of utility bills, taxes and other mandatory payments.
The program "We will work" in Yaroslavl
Since 2014, the Planet Family project has been implementing several social programs, including Let's Work for Retirees.In September 2016, a real recruiting agency for the elderly was opened on the basis of the project. The first client and participant in the program was a military pensioner, who was picked up a job as a driver in the same family, where he met children from school and drove them home. For 3 months, 20 Yaroslavl pensioners found work, and another 53 job seekers were in the database.
Portal "50+" from the Labor Exchange
It is not necessary to contact a recruitment agency to find a job for a pensioner. The Labor Exchange resource launched the 50+ portal, where older people can find additional employment for several hours a day, several days a week. Pensioners are offered vacancies by the head of department, chief accountant, forklift driver, leading economist, warehouse worker, commercial director, order picker at the factory, and so on.
Employment Center
Some assistance in finding employment for pensioners may be provided by Employment Centers. Legally, they cannot be declared unemployed. They will not begin to pay unemployment benefits to a pensioner. But he should still contact the Employment Center, where a consultant will help you find the right job. This organization will make a list of vacancies similar to the previous job for the senior citizen.
In order to register, pensioners must go to the Employment Center at the place of residence. You need to have: a passport, work book, pension certificate, documents confirming the qualifications of the employee (diplomas, certificates and certificates, admissions), an education certificate (if there is no work book), an individual rehabilitation program for the disabled person (if the pensioner is disabled and as health can work).
When registering with the Employment Center, they will offer to write a statement and a resume. The labor inspector will help in this. Based on the information noted in the questionnaire, the exchange employee will tell you a series of vacancies that a pensioner can respond to.
