Jewelry is a rather expensive purchase, which is made far from every day, and not every month. A special approach is applied to the quality of goods in this price category, both on the part of the manufacturer and the government. The concept of "jewelry"
Jewelry is considered to be products that are entirely made up of precious metals or their alloys in various respects, which have received artistic processing and are inlaid with stones or minerals of artificial or natural origin. For the manufacture of precious products, you can use not only precious or semiprecious stones, but also colored or ornamental materials. 
Jewelry can be used as jewelry, decor, everyday life or worship. Jewelry is subject to strict control by the state, so the guarantee for jewelry with or without stones necessarily covers every product.
Quality assurance
The quality of jewelry produced in the Russian Federation is monitored and confirmed by state standard 117-3-002-95. This standard was introduced in 1996, and each product is subjected to technical verification in accordance with the specified conditions before placing a state test mark on it. The manufacturer must indicate on the product label that the product complies with Gosstandart.
There is also a document called "Rules for the sale of certain types of goods" in which a whole section is allocated for jewelry. It indicates, for example, that the buyer has the full right to ask to weigh any jewelry without a label in his presence. When buying a product, the buyer should receive a receipt from the seller, which contains information about the product, characteristics of the stones, sample, article, price, date of sale and signature of the seller.
In addition, the warranty period for jewelry is further protected by laws responsible for consumer rights. The consumer also has the right to make all claims in court.
Guarantee period
The law of the Russian Federation "On Protection of Consumer Rights" states that the manufacturer is not obliged to indicate a guarantee for jewelry, but he has the right to indicate the period during which, if a defect or inconsistency with the specified standards is discovered, the consumer has the right to receive a free repair, a full refund for the purchase or replacing the product. The law also stipulates that if a consumer finds a defect in a product within 2 years from the date of purchase, he is also entitled to all types of compensation.
The legislation clearly defines the period of a mandatory guarantee for 6 months. This is the time during which a hidden product defect can be detected.
In addition to the warranty period, the manufacturer also indicates the life of the jewelry, during which (if a manufacturing defect is detected), the buyer can demand free repair or replacement of the goods, even if the service life is set, for example, to 20 years.
Deficiency identified. What to do?
If a defect is discovered during the warranty period for jewelry, contact the salon where the transaction was made. The seller must accept the goods from the consumer and check for compliance with quality standards.The consumer has the right to observe and participate in the quality control procedure by specialists.
When a controversial situation arises in the process of determining the defects of a product and obtaining a relying guarantee on jewelry, the seller must conduct an additional examination. The cost of this check is paid in full by the seller. The examination is carried out within a 10-day period, if the buyer wants to return the money, or in a 20-day period, if a request has been received to replace the goods. The buyer has the full right to be present during the additional inspection.
If the results do not satisfy the consumer, then he can challenge the conclusion in court.
Good Product Exchange
There are cases when a product has already been purchased, a guarantee for a jewelry product is valid, no flaws are found, but it does not fit in shape, size, style or any other reasons not directly related to the quality of the product. And then there is a natural desire to return or replace a product that did not please. The manufacturer or seller, following the job descriptions, can go forward and make a replacement product or refund, but this procedure is not supported by any legislative act.
In the above "Sales Rules ..." in the section on jewelry, it is stated that if the goods have no defects in the declared characteristics, then the consumer’s statement about repairing, refunding or replacing the product with another is irrelevant, the manufacturer has the full right to reject such demand.
Based on this information, the purchase of jewelry should be approached with special attention and responsibility. In this case, it will not be possible to buy the product, try it on and return it to the window the next day. But if any flaws are identified, the buyer receives the full right, within the framework of the law, to receive appropriate compensation for low-quality goods.
