Ticks are the most dangerous blood-sucking parasites that pose a direct threat to human health. 
These are carriers of various infections, such as tick-borne encephalitis, typhus, tick-borne typhus, tularemia, tick-borne borreliosis (Lyme disease) and others. A favorite habitat of ticks is the forest; insects also quite successfully inhabit various adjacent plantings, parks, gardens, groves. An important measure in the mass destruction of such dangerous insects is acaricidal treatment of their habitat.
How to detect the presence of ticks?
It is worth knowing that ticks never jump or attack, they sit on the lower branches of trees, bushes or in the grass, waiting for a potential victim. The careless movement of a person or dog passing by that violates the parasite’s quiet stay in place - and the latter is already on the body of the object in search of a bite. Removing such a foreign organism is very problematic, sometimes medical intervention may be required. Pets get more from ticks: because of the hair, it is quite difficult to see such an insect on their body.
To determine the presence of uninvited guests on the site, you can use a waffle towel, which first needs to wipe the sweat, and then drag it through the grass and bushes. Ticks will surely move to a towel.
Effective measure against ticks
One of the effective methods of combating this insect is acaricidal treatment, which is a set of preventive and extermination measures for the mass destruction of ticks in an open area and preventing their reappearance. It is carried out by sanitary services using special equipment and is:
- the study of a given territory and the search for pest nests;
- determining the paths of tick penetration into the area;
- the choice of acaricidal drugs;
- dilution of the drug with water;
- carrying out complex anti-mite treatment.
Dates of pest control measures
Acaricidal treatment from ticks is carried out with the approach of the tick season (from mid-April to the last days of October), 3-5 days before people visit the summer cottage. You can organize a pest control event at the end of March as a preventive measure, because the appearance of a pest is easier to prevent than to deal with it later.
Carrying out acaricidal treatment is always relevant before the tick activity peaks: in May-June and August-September. The frequency factor of this event is also influenced by the applied preventive measures: regular cleaning of the site, timely mowing and removal of grass, etc. It is a systematic approach to acaricidal treatment (2-3 times a year) that will protect against dangerous diseases transmitted by ticks.
Ticks
Acaricidal treatment, the cost of which depends on the area and means used, depends on weather conditions: the weather forecast should be favorable, without precipitation in the next 3-4 days.
The action of the product lasts from 1.5 to 2 months, with a large precipitation, its effectiveness will decrease. The most common solution to date is acaricidal treatment with cypermethrin, a colorless viscous liquid with a faint odor used in household pest control to control synanthropic and harmful insects (Tsifoks, Force-Site, Bayteks, Akaritoks) , "Taran", "Breeze", "Sipaz Super", "Alfatrin", "Acarocide").Drugs are required to be used only in accordance with the instructions with strict observance. When processing, pay special attention to areas with thick grass, the perimeter of recreation areas, as well as places along the paths.
Surround yourself with daisies
You should be aware that the pyrethroids used against ticks during acaricidal treatment are derivatives of pyrethrin, a natural insecticide, and are found in certain types of daisies, namely, Caucasian (Pyrethrum Chrysanthemum), Persian (P. carneum), Dalmatian (P. cinerarifolium). Their pyrethrin is less active than synthetic derivatives, but it is able to deter ticks, and chamomiles will always decorate the area with their sun flowers.
Equipment used for acaricidal treatment
Acaricidal treatment from ticks is carried out using professional equipment: a cold fog gasoline generator that splits a drop of the drug used to the size of "wet fog". This allows you to increase the cultivated area, which provides 100% destruction of existing ticks on the site. The equipment used during acaricidal treatment causes the penetration of a chemical agent into hard-to-reach places with maximum result. 
If there is, for example, a blockage of unnecessary things, a stack of mowed grass, firewood in the area of influence, it is recommended to dismantle the latter or temporarily remove it from the site. A specialist in the sanitary service must work with a respirator in protective clothing. If acaricidal treatment is carried out, then it is forbidden to be on the object to animals and strangers. In time, about 1.5 hours are spent on a plot of 20 acres.
After processing, you need to wait 2 hours in sunny weather and 3-4 in cloudy and humid conditions. A wait is required in order to give the agent time to crystallize and dry.
Preparatory measures
Acaricidal treatment of the territory requires a number of preparatory measures:
- notify neighbors about the planned processing;
- remove dishes, tools, and children's toys from the territory;
- to cover tables with protective material in arbors;
- close all windows in the house.
After processing, it is required to carry out high-quality cleaning: wash all tables, children's swings, benches with the composition of soda ash; for 10 days in this territory it is forbidden to collect herbs, berries, mushrooms. Acaricidal treatment causes the disappearance of ticks for 3-5 months. With the early onset of the tick season, the pest control event must be repeated in August.
How to protect yourself from ticks?
Anyone traveling outside the city in the summer to relax, and not everyone wants to walk cautiously on the grass and constantly examine themselves and loved ones for the presence of these uninvited guests.
Acaricidal treatment is an important measure aimed at the destruction of ticks and their prevention on the site. But for the most part, it requires the involvement of specialists. You can reduce the number of such pests yourself. This requires:
- keep the area clean, without the presence of cluttered areas;
- constantly mow lawns;
- collect fallen leaves and remove the remains of plant origin;
- a so-called protective barrier about a meter wide of sawdust or gravel should be laid around the perimeter of the site.
In addition, the fight against mice, the main feeders of ixodid tick larvae, is an important measure in preventing ticks from entering the area. Also from rodents, insects get tick-borne encephalitis virus. Traps and poison baits are effective against mice. Bearing potential danger to humans, they require careful use. Also should not be left on the site food waste.
