When purchasing a new or used car, the new owner is required to register his vehicle. On the territory of the Russian Federation, the same conditions for registering a car apply for citizens, regardless of place of registration. Due to the fact that legislation often makes changes or new requirements to laws, the majority of drivers have a question about how to register a car, and what is the amount of payment of state duty.

Registering a car in the traffic police is a mandatory procedure. Re-registration must be carried out within ten days from the date of purchase of the machine.
Also for the renewal of the vehicle you need to provide the following:
- Identity document (passport).

- CTP insurance policy.

What is the state duty paid for and what is its size?
For any registration activities, a state duty will be charged. You need to pay for registration of the car and receipt of the relevant document, as well as for issuing license plates and making the necessary entries in the TCP.
For new and used vehicles, when registering, prices vary significantly. So, for paperwork for a new car, you will need to pay a state fee of 2,000 rubles (for issuing license plates). The cost of issuing a registration certificate will be 500 rubles, and the required entry in the TCP will cost 350 rubles.
When re-registering a used car, you will need to pay 850 rubles (without issuing new numbers, that is, when re-registering with their preservation). When issuing a new vehicle passport (without obtaining numbers), you will need to pay 1300 rubles, and with the issuance of numbers - 2850.
These prices are the same for all subjects of the Russian Federation. If there are no paid state fees, you will be denied services.
How and where to pay the state fee
The state duty for registering a car is accepted at the traffic police department, so you can pay it on the spot when submitting documents.
There are several other ways to pay state fees. You can pay it not only in cash at the cash desk at the MREO traffic police, but also by electronic payment through state and commercial sites. It is also possible to pay the state fee using Internet banking or a mobile bank.
Vehicle registration procedure
When the necessary documents have been collected, and the state duty for registration has been paid, you need to register in the pre-selected department of the MREO traffic police to reissue the vehicle. This can be done on the portal of public services or on the website of the traffic police. Also, without an appointment, you can arrive at the place of registration of the vehicle and submit documents in a live or electronic queue.
Having submitted the pre-collected documents to the initial admission window, you need to wait for their processing and get back together with the application on your behalf. Then you must go through a mandatory inspection of the car at a specialized site. There, a traffic policeman will verify the number of the body and engine of your car. Next, you need to submit papers to the final registration window of the vehicle. Wait for a certificate and license plates. The latter will immediately need to be installed on the car. Also do not forget to inform your insurance agent about the receipt of license plates.
Now the car registration procedure does not take much time.With proper preparation of all necessary documents, this can be done in one day. If the state duty for registering a car is paid, you have all the necessary documents on hand, and the car is insured and equipped with a first-aid kit and a fire extinguisher, then it will take about 2-3 hours to register.
