It’s quite possible to live your whole life with one phone number: you can lose your mobile phone or the SIM card may break, but nothing will happen to the number itself. Buying a new one is not necessary at all - just get a duplicate of a lost SIM card. This article describes how to restore the MTS SIM card. The topic of renewal of the contract will also be touched. For other Russian telecom operators, these procedures are basically similar.
What you need to restore the MTS SIM card
Before you repair something, you first need to break it. So it is here: you can only restore a locked SIM card. Therefore, if you have lost your phone without delay, take care of its blocking.
There are many ways to do this. For example, via the Internet, using your MTS account. But for this, the number you want to block must be registered for your personal account, otherwise it won’t work, because you won’t be able to get a one-time password for registration. In this case, you can immediately contact the nearest MTS communication salon. The last option is probably the best, because there you will restore your SIM card. By the way, voluntary blocking is not free: about 15 rubles per month will be charged from your blocked number.
Now to the documents that will be needed to restore the SIM card:
He is only one - the passport of the owner of the SIM card. That is, the contract should be drawn up specifically for you. And if the MTS number was issued for someone else's passport, it can be reissued, as discussed at the end of the article.
How to restore an old MTS SIM card in a communication salon
If you want to restore the SIM card immediately, then contact one of the MTS communication salons. Then you won’t have to block the number through your personal account: everything you need will be done in the cabin.
Just contact a consultant and say that you want to get a duplicate of your SIM card. Next, you need to provide a number and provide a passport. The recovery procedure does not take much time, and you can start using duplicates immediately after receipt. The old SIM card, accordingly, will be automatically locked. Restoring rooms in communication salons is completely free. In addition to the number, the duplicate of the lost SIM card will retain the balance, tariff plan and all connected services. But not the contacts.
SIM card recovery via the Internet
Almost everything can be done via the Internet now, including restoring a SIM card. A duplicate will be delivered directly to your home, and if desired, on the same day.
To do this, go to the official MTS website. There, on the very top panel of the window there will be several sections, you need "Private Clients". Below, larger sections will appear new sections. Hover over Mobile Communications. A menu opens in which you need to find the "Support" subsection - it is on the right. Under the word “Support” there are various options, including “Actions with SIM card and number” - select it. Next, click on “SIM Card Delivery”. The procedure for ordering delivery and the cost of express services will vary depending on the region of your residence. For example, for the service “Restore MTS SIM card: Moscow and Moscow Region with delivery”, the rates are as follows:
- The delivery option "Economy" - for free.
- Expedited delivery (within the MKAD) - 90 rubles.
- Express delivery (within the MKAD) - 200 rubles.
Payment for delivery will be debited from the account of the blocked number. To apply, you will need to accurately indicate your passport data.
Service "Change of ownership"
If for some reason the SIM card that you use is not issued to you, and the number is extremely important to you, then it is better to renew the contract for yourself, as long as such an opportunity exists. Now you may not notice this, but when using such a SIM card you are limited in rights. After all, the presentation of a passport may be required from the subscriber not only to restore the MTS SIM card, but also to disable some services.
To change the owner of the SIM card, the person with whom the contract is drawn up must appear with you at the MTS service office. Of course, both of you will have to bring your passports with you. At the office, you will need to fill out an application for re-issuance of the number and sign an agreement that has been drawn up specifically for you.
Conditions for changing the owner of the MTS number
In case the true owner of the number cannot come with you, it is necessary that he draw up a power of attorney for the right to reissue the number. The power of attorney must be notarized. Neither a copy of the owner’s passport, nor the original, even if it is in your hands, will do. Handwritten powers of attorney are also not accepted.
Another necessary condition: the room should not be in arrears. Be sure to repay them before heading to the office.
After changing the owner of the number, the balance, tariff and connected services on the SIM card will remain the same.
The service "Change of ownership" is paid: its cost depends on the region of your residence. In Moscow and in the Moscow region, 340 rubles will be taken from you, while, for example, in the Rostov Region - only 50 rubles. By the way, the fee is taken from the new owner.
