Which state is the poorest country today? Many people are interested in this issue. Honestly, in the Russian Federation the level of salaries and welfare is not too high, but there are states that are much poorer. It’s worth talking about them.
Briefly on LDCs
LDCs - so briefly indicated the least the developed countries. This is the official term used within the UN. They designate the poorest countries in Europe and the world, in which the economy is poorly developed and low living standards. The inclusion of LDCs in the group, it must be said, provides small advantages and benefits. For example, financial assistance, benefits, equipment, medical and humanitarian services. But, unfortunately, this is not enough.
According to the statistics of 2014, 47 different countries were included in the category of poor countries. The term LDCs began to be applied about 45 years ago (in 1971 it would have been officially introduced), and at that time the number of such states was much smaller - only 24.
Recent statistics
Since the advent of the term LDCs, a large number of countries have been included in the list of poor countries. Many of them managed to overcome the crisis and get out of this rating. Some are not. But, nevertheless, the list exists, and, unfortunately, is regularly updated.
For example, Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Bhutan, Benin, Guinea, Haiti, Yemen, Laos, Nepal, Lesotho, Chad and Ethiopia are the poorest countries that were listed as 1971 and remained in it. to the present time. Unfortunately, the crisis captured them greatly.
The list also includes countries such as Angola, Bangladesh, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Madagascar, Rwanda and many others. As you can see, most of them belong to the African continent. There really is a very low standard of living. According to the IMF rating, the Togolese Republic (Togo) became the poorest country in 2014. Many states are very concerned about the situation in Africa and are trying to help people survive this period. It is hoped that the situation will be corrected.
North and South America
Speaking about what is the poorest country in the world, one cannot but notice the attention of the American continent. Many people blindly believe that the states of the North and South have a well-developed economy, high salaries and a decent standard of living. Well, perhaps in places like Chicago, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, etc. it is. But take, for example, Mexico, Peru or the Republic of Haiti. Many poor countries are located in the Americas. By the way, that is why in many places located there, you do not need a visa to travel. As a matter of fact, it is precisely thanks to tourism that these countries survive.
European data
For many people, Europe is associated with wealth, success, prosperity. And indeed, it is worth at least to look at such luxurious states as Germany, Switzerland, Italy ... The standard of living that prevails there is really inspiring. However, even in prosperous Europe there are disadvantaged countries. It’s worth talking about. The poorest countries in Europe are Romania, Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia. It has a very low GDP, low salaries, and a weak economy. Because of what - cheap products, real estate. However, for residents of these states, the set prices are still considered high. But the poorest country in Europe is Moldova. There are very low incomes, despite the fact that this state is considered the 14th largest in the entire continent. That's just due to tourism and agriculture (these are the main sources of Moldova’s income) the country is not getting richer.
European outsider rating
Speaking about which the poorest country exists in Europe, a rating should be made. To be more precise, such a list already exists. And these are the 10 poorest countries on the European continent. Some of them were listed above. But we should talk about each in more detail.
The richest of the poorest countries is Bulgaria. There, GDP is $ 14,500 per capita. In Romania, the 9th country on the list, this figure is $ 12,800. 19 million people live in this state, and they survive only thanks to the export of equipment, metal, and agriculture. In Montenegro, the GDP is even lower - 11,700, and it survives due to the same as Romania (plus the tourism sector is actively developing). In Macedonia, the GDP is a thousand less. Nothing special is being produced in this country, and a whole third of the population is below the poverty line. Serbia is not the poorest country, but the GDP there is $ 10,500. This state has a rich history, but the economy has fallen dramatically in recent years. Bosnia and Herzegovina, which survived the war, is now actually divided into two parts. There, GDP is 8,300 dollars per year per person. Albania is in fourth place, and Ukraine, Russia's close neighbor, is in third place. Now it is the poorest country from the CIS countries. No wonder if you remember what happened after March 2014. The country began to collapse, completely different political events began to develop, and the economy fell almost completely.
After Ukraine comes Kosovo and, finally, Moldova. It is the poorest country in all of Europe.
About the states of the Asian continent
Europe, as can be seen, is also not without poor states. And what about the poorest countries in Asia? The least wealthy state there is East Timor. GDP is only $ 535 per month. Not enough for the prices that are set there for products, real estate and cars. A little more “rich” is Nepal with a GDP of $ 536. And Afghanistan closes the top three of the poorest countries in Asia - there GDP is equal to $ 560.
About the CIS economy
Fortunately, the poorest country in the world is not located in the CIS. However, these states with the economy, unfortunately, are not doing well. For example, the Russian Federation, which is one of the largest countries on the whole Earth, occupies 95th place in the ranking of the least wealthy states. The minimum wage in our country is about six thousand rubles, and this is very small, especially considering current prices and the suddenly rising dollar exchange rate.
Plus, it’s worth remembering that all over the world there are only 251 officially registered countries. It turns out that Russia is among the states in the third third of the list. It is sad to realize this, but in our vast country, 25 percent of the population is below the poverty line. The most secured state of the CIS is Kazakhstan. It should be noted that its economy is the largest in all of Central Asia. The extraction of oil, minerals and metal - this is what this country exists for.
Well, no matter how the economic situation in Russia develops, it remains to believe that soon everything will work out.
