Enough money until the end of life: an Australian pensioner found a gold nugget weighing 2 kilograms in a pasture

An Australian pensioner and part-time amateur intelligence literally dug up an unusual find. The man discovered a two-kilogram gold bar in the vicinity of the famous Victorian city of Ballarat, which had previously become famous as the focus of the so-called gold rush. Lucky for some time he was fond of finding metal using a detector and one fine day his hobby paid off in full.

Find value

What is noteworthy, in recent years, the price of gold is rapidly rising up, already jumping over the mark of 2,000 Australian dollars per ounce. However, a sample discovered by an Australian is quite rare in nature, because its market price can exceed $ 130,000.

After a fairly short period of time after the discovery, the lucky one has already received an offer of $ 160,000 for a two-kilogram ingot. He found the nugget he found with humor, "You Won't Believe It." And to believe in the existence of such an amazing find is indeed difficult!

"Big gold"

Even the manager of the Gold Ballarat metal detector sales company, Mark Day, emphasized that the nugget found was unique in size. “I’ve been in this business for over 25 years and it’s really the biggest find that I’ve ever seen,” he says. Mr. Day recalls how one day, shortly after the discovery of a nugget, a pensioner visited him and politely asked if Mark wished to acquire “big gold”. "I said that I was not a buyer, and later clarified what kind of" big gold "he was talking about. The man said that two kilograms. I did not believe it. He answered that he must be joking."

The finder was shaking like an autumn leaf, showing Mark the ingot in the store - he had not slept for three days before. He simply did not know what to do with such a huge piece of metal. The man is silent about the place where gold was discovered, but, according to preliminary data, the nugget was found on old pasture lands 150 km from Ballarat under a meter layer of soil.

A bullet is not a fool

"The man said that the detector began to signal in a certain place. After excavation, only a lead bullet was found, but the detector still insisted that there was still something in the ground. And then - bang! It turned out to be the very nugget." - says company owner Mark Day.

Earlier reports have been received of large finds in that area. And while Australia has mined precious metal in that area for 150 years, “big gold,” as it turned out, is still possible to find.

People collect any nuggets because they do not want them to simply disperse in nature, for which there are real predispositions. Gold Ballarat workers were delighted to see the bar with their own eyes. This is really awesome.

Golden continent

Just a few months before, in May, a man in Bendigo discovered a 624-gram gold nugget worth $ 35,000 during a dog walk routine.

A local resident who wishes to remain anonymous says he was walking Lucky's pet on the outskirts of the city when he noticed how his daughter was kicking something quite weighty. At first, the family was not sure of the authenticity of the find, but the examination decided that the heavy pebble is in fact gold.

Last September, a retired intelligence officer discovered a huge nugget worth about $ 110,000 in faraway Western Australia.

In 2017, gold digger Greg Cook led the pages of newspapers thanks to a precious find in the north of the Gold Coast beach.

This will seem to many to be real happiness - not so often you find under yourself 160,000 dollars! However, it is easy to part with easy money, because such a “bonus” of fate will not always be without consequences. A large amount is a big responsibility.
