Millionaire James Dyson buys another home in Singapore for $ 54 million. What is the reason for its purchase?

Billionaire Sir James Dyson is about to spend a tidy sum again on his second purchase of luxury real estate in Singapore.

In just a few weeks, he spent more than $ 54 million buying real estate in the famous and magnificent city-state, including buying the most expensive penthouse in the best area of Singapore.

Garden View Case

According to The Straits Times, a weekend villa overlooking the famous Singapore Botanic Gardens is now owned by James Dyson.

Dyson, known for his ball-wagon and vacuum cleaner without a dust bag, this time spent $ 33 million on a "weekend venue" overlooking the famous Singapore Botanic Garden.

The house has many interesting designs: an infinity pool and an indoor waterfall. The 21,000 sqm penthouse includes a boar, whirlpool, private bar and panoramic views.

The large bungalow boasts "breathtaking views" of the already mentioned garden (it is a 160-year-old tropical garden, the only one of this type of gardens that has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site).

Do it, walk boldly

Dyson’s decision to relocate to Singapore is due to the need to oversee the production and development of his new electric vehicle manufacturing facility. This decision caused public discontent in his native UK.

In response to reproaches, Dyson said that his decision was based on the availability of engineering talent in Singapore, as well as the city’s proximity to the target production markets, namely China.

Thus, it can be assumed that Sir James Dyson is moving his business to Singapore.

The housing inspector allowed Sir Dyson to buy the bungalow on July 2, after the purchase option was granted on June 3. The city-state charges 5% on the first property purchased and 15% on the second on the purchase price of the Cluny Road Bungalow.

Guz architects who designed the house said that they specifically used large consoles and horizontal planes to make the building seem to float in the air, and the flying structure of the house is clearly visible at first glance from the road.

The reaction of the political elite

Sir James Dyson's move to Singapore was surprising in the UK after he reacted positively to Brexit, which, in his opinion, would bring about the assertion of business opportunities for countries leaving the EU.

In 2017, Sir James stated that the scenario of the futile Brexit “will hurt the Europeans more than the British.”

Regarding the uncertainty surrounding Britain’s withdrawal from the EU, he said:

I think that uncertainty is an opportunity, and there really is a possibility that the rest of the world is growing at a much faster rate than Europe, so this opportunity is to export to the rest of the world and the opportunity to benefit from it.

In January of this year, Dyson CEO Jim Rowan confirmed that Dyson's move to Singapore was about “securing the future” of business as part of the company's “evolution”.

However, Liberal Democrat MP Leila Moran described the move as “overwhelming hypocrisy,” adding that “it is unbelievable that Brexit’s business person will take another part of their business from the UK.”

“James Dyson can say whatever he wants, but he leaves Britain. This can only be seen as a vote of no confidence in Brexit Britain, ”said Leila Moran in an interview with Gardian.
