A man from Nebraska found a rough diamond weighing 2.12 carats in Arkansas Park

36-year-old school teacher from the American town of Hebron, Nebraska, came across a valuable find during his family vacation. John Lanick decided to visit the Diamond Crater in Arkansas. Here a man found an impressive diamond size.

Crater of Fortune

Lanik walked around the crater for about two hours before he found a gem of cognac color. He noticed a diamond about five meters from a trench running along the park.

"We took the children to look for amethysts on the Canary Hill, and I walked through an area where there seemed to be a lot of water when I saw it," Lanik said.

At first, he was not sure that he had found something valuable until he took it to the diamond detection center. After identifying and weighing the gem, the park's staff told Lanik that he had discovered the largest diamond found in 2019. The weight of the stone is 2.12 carats. It has a beautiful natural pear shape and smooth curved edges that give the gem a metallic luster.

One of the workers of the geological park, Weimann Cox, explained the find also by the record rainfall these days. As a result, many smaller diamonds were discovered in the park.

Lanik is not sure if he is going to sell the stone or keep it for himself as a souvenir, but said that he will keep it for now.
