Do not be fooled by discounts and promotions: what you need to do during shopping in the supermarket so as not to throw money away

Once again, you leave the supermarket with a large package, the products from which you intend to use completely. Unfortunately, after a while they deteriorate and you just throw them away. Surely you are really familiar with this problem. You can solve it quite simply if you use these rules for going to the store.

Always go shopping with a list

Surely this phrase is not new for you. However, in practice, if you do not make a list in advance, then most likely you will simply forget something you need or buy something extra. Be sure to keep this in mind when you don't want to make lists in advance at home. So you can look into a cupboard or refrigerator to see the available leftovers.

Do not buy food on an empty stomach

This is another well-known rule that will help avoid waste. When you are hungry, you want everything and more, and the products look so tasty and mouth-watering. Unfortunately, in the end you buy much more than you need, so the food goes bad and you have to throw it away. So if you don’t want to eat while shopping, then you don’t put everything that caught your attention in the cart.

By the way, now there is a whole direction in marketing, which is engaged in luring customers with different tastes, awakening their appetite - vivid examples of such a stimulation of purchases are fresh pastries and coffee aromas.

Do not be fooled by prices and discounts.

During the shopping trip, the eyes linger on bright labels with the word "discount" or "promotion". Yes, there is nothing wrong with buying a product at a reduced price, because it is profitable.

However, before making this purchase, you need to carefully look at whether the discount price is really much lower than the price of the same product from other manufacturers.

You also need to look at the expiration date, since often the price is reduced for goods that will soon deteriorate. If a super discount appeared for this reason, then it really does not make sense to buy it in large quantities.

You also need to understand whether you really need this product, or if you just fell for the attraction of stocks. It is clear what to do in the second case - if you did not initially need this product and it is not on your list, then it is better to refuse it, even if it is sold favorably.

Look down and right

The best places to sell goods that the supermarket is trying to sell to you are right at eye level. This is the most famous marketing method that has been used for many years - what needs to be sold must be in plain sight.

So remember that the most expensive products are usually in the upper left and the cheapest in the lower right. So when shopping, be sure to look at the lower shelves.

Do not take vegetables from the front rows

Any employee of the sales area is always taught that more recent goods must be put in the back row. All other products with a short shelf life are also laid out. So try to take vegetables, herbs, eggs and dairy products from the very last row near the wall. And of course, do not forget to always look at the expiration date - choose only the freshest of the presented goods.

Do not buy anything in the cooking department

Cooking departments should be banned for you. Firstly, the food in them will always have a price much higher than the one that you cook at home.Secondly, many stores use product leftovers in their products whose shelf life has almost expired. The most striking example is grilled chicken.

Do not shop on Mondays

Most people prefer to shop on weekends, as this leaves a lot of time and no need to rush anywhere. However, this means that on Monday you will find only leftovers. In addition, many supermarkets receive their deliveries on Monday evening, so on Tuesday morning there is a high probability that the goods on the shelves will be the freshest.

It is also best to go to the store on weekdays in the morning, since subsequently from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. the rush hour starts again, and you can stay in line for a long time.

If you take advantage of all these tips while shopping, then you can definitely avoid throwing money away.
