Throwing a successful career and going almost nowhere is not everyone dares to. A banker from Singapore sacrificed his work to help her mom do business. And this is what came of it.

Successful banker

So get acquainted. Our hero's name is Jeffrey Guo, he is thirty-nine years old. He is the second child in the family. His parents gave him an excellent education. Unlearned as a financier, the guy went to work in a bank. He quickly advanced on a career ladder and began to earn quite decent money. Life went on as usual, and our hero was not at all going to change anything in it. However, fate, as is often the case, decreed otherwise.

Mom's business

Jeffrey's mom named Tai Lee Tiong has been the owner of her own restaurant in downtown Singapore for eight years. The highlight of the restaurant was traditional soon keuh snacks: something like rice flour dim sums. Locals and visitors alike loved the Thai restaurant and especially the food that she prepared herself. The institution was very often shown on TV; there was practically no end to customers.

Jeffrey helped his mother do business in her free time: usually on weekends when the bank was not working. However, when Tai turned sixty-four years old, she realized that she was no longer able to independently manage the institution. Unfortunately, her health did not allow her to stand in the kitchen around the clock, sculpt dim sums, bake cakes and sell to visitors. No matter how hard it was to part with a business, a woman was forced to retire. This happened in 2012, unfortunately the residents of the city and tourists.

Desperate step

The first time after the closure of the restaurant, Tai Jeffrey continued to work at the bank. However, the idea that the family business just went into oblivion just did not give him rest. It was especially unfortunate to see my mother, who was forced to sit at home. She always dreamed that the restaurant would develop and attract as many visitors as possible. So that the cause to which she gave so much time and energy should exist after her death. So that grandchildren can be proud of their grandmother, in fact, like children - their mother.

After reflection, Jeffrey decided on a desperate step and quit his main job. During this time, he saved up enough money to promote his mother’s business. In 2017, he reopened his mother’s traditional food restaurant. The parent was wildly delighted and was incredibly proud that her own son supported her and became her successor. She could not even dream that our hero would leave his career in favor of his mother’s business.

The revival of the family business

At first, it was hard for Jeffrey to cope with everything on his own, because in the kitchen he did not spend as much time as Ty. In the culinary profession, certain skills were needed, but our hero tried his best to ensure that the snacks were obtained exactly like my mother’s. Customers were pleased with the work of Jeffrey.

The man admits that he knows sixty percent of what his mother knows, so he has room to grow. For health reasons, Tai rarely appears in a restaurant, but sometimes his son comes to the rescue. On a day, Jeffrey sells three hundred to five hundred snacks. Surprisingly, the former banker does not even hire employees yet - he does everything himself.

Our hero’s future plans are more than grandiose. Together with the parent, they plan to expand the restaurant chain to reach a large audience. They also plan to diversify the menu and include new gourmet dishes. At the same time, our hero does not want to put the business on stream - then the concept of the institution will be lost.After all, visitors love not just tasty food, but to feel that homely atmosphere of warmth and comfort that prevails in the institution.
