The old army truck turned into a chic motor home (photo)

Buying a home can be a test - it is expensive, even when the actual purchase process has not begun. Therefore, it is not surprising that more and more people are finding alternative ways to spend their money.

Some people begin to travel, others save their money for a rainy day, while others improvise like Tom Duckworth, who bought an old British Army truck and remade it into a real house.

The young man was only 22 years old when he forked out at £ 4350 (341,000 rubles) and bought a huge truck. Since then, he spent another approximately 10,000 pounds (784,000 rubles) to convert it into a place that he can now boldly call home.

The living room is in the truck, and above is a double bed.

Tom, who is now 24 years old, said in an interview with LADbible: “I bought a truck on eBay in September 2016. I was 22, and I rented an apartment for two years. And I only had enough money to go somewhere once a month with friends. "

"I also always wanted to build my own house. I could not afford to buy or even rent a house, but I could afford a truck and it was only 10 miles from where I lived, so this idea was great."

"I know that a diesel engine is not very good, but I initially parked it and only get it in case of emergency. I also plan to replace it with bio-diesel this fall."

Well, this man with a plan that no one has ever had before.

Tom even has a big shower room in the truck.

Tom was supported by friends in his endeavor

Tom had to work hard that year when he bought a truck and needed to be converted, and that would have been impossible if it hadn't been for the help of his friend.

He continues: "I got into a difficult financial situation right after I bought the truck, and I needed to find a new workshop. Fortunately, I have an amazing friend Mackay, whose mother lives in the same city where I work."

"He had a workshop there right behind the house, and there was just enough space in it to put a truck there. If it hadn't been for Mackay and his mother, I would never have been able to finish the project. They fed and watered me when I was too concentrated at the construction that I forgot to eat. "

Now the truck is home with all amenities.

At the moment, Tom has been living in his truck for two years and says that he does not regret it at all.

He continues: “Inside the truck, I have everything I need: a large shower that works using my rainwater collection system, a Chesterfield sofa and coffee table, which were the first on the furniture list, a wood-burning stove for heating, an oven and stove, an electric water heater, a compost toilet and a full-sized double bed that extends from the wall. "

And even a beer bar!

And only when we thought that this house in the truck could not get better, it turned out that he even had his own beer pump on the street.

Tom adds: “I stumbled upon a huge pallet at work and decided to use it to build a small beer bar that would exit the back of the truck. It was a great idea. We spent many evenings relaxing there with a glass of beer.”

All this helps to make sure that he does not miss life in the house.
