A donut recipe for 34 500 thousand dollars: flour, sugar and ... burning oil

An absurd situation: the Norwegian decided to fry the donuts, but instead received a loss of $ 34,500. The insurance company refused to compensate the damage in full, as it saw fault in the actions of the man.

How to get damage from fried donuts?

Last winter, a man decided to fry donuts: he poured oil in a frying pan and set it on fire. At this time, his phone rang, which was charging in another room, and the man left the kitchen.

While he was talking on the phone, the light suddenly turned off in the apartment. When the man ran back to the kitchen, he saw the reason: the oil in the pan caught fire.

The damage amounted to $ 34,500, but the insurance company significantly reduced the payment, arguing that the man himself was to blame for the fire.

A man filed a complaint with an insurance company. He explains his act like this: when he was talking on the phone, the TV was still on in the room, which is why the man did not hear how the fire started in the kitchen.

But the insurance company is firmly on its own: the Norwegian should not have left the kitchen while food is being prepared on it. Therefore, compensation was not paid in full.

Who is right and who is to blame is now decided by the court, and everyone else from this story needs to learn a lesson: cooking cannot be left unattended. Even children know that you can’t play with fire (this also applies to hobs).
