Headings

The teacher was tired of enduring the students' antics. The woman quit, turned a hobby into a business and now earns $ 6.5 million a year.

A teacher from São José dos Campos, province of São Paulo, Brazil, decided to leave school and students and went into business. Valeria Verdi de Macedo founded a company that specializes in the sale of cakes. Today it has two divisions of its own and franchises are launched.

From teacher to business

The woman, who now earns $ 6.5 million a year, began her professional life as a teacher. Valeria worked with preschoolers and received a state salary from the city hall. The businesswoman herself admitted that it was a good experience for her, but she always knew that this work was not at all what she wanted to do in life. There was a time when she had a very terrible class. And then she decided that she no longer wanted this. Valeria resigned and decided to try to do something else.

When she switched from education to business, Valeria had to take the other side, and now, instead of teaching her naughty students, she herself was in this place, now she should be a diligent and polite student. Only this time, she needed the knowledge to create a successful company.

Production development

It all started with the fact that Valeria thought about making and selling pies. At some point, she said to herself: “I need special knowledge, I need to understand what a company is and how it works.” Valeria attended courses at the Commercial Association, where she studied business administration, entrepreneurship, and also took courses in self-improvement and management studies.

In 2015, Valeria reached a new level. Alexander Tibes used tortilla (a pie-selling shop) as a basis for learning how to do business and eventually became a partner.

In an interview, Alexander said that he worked for six months, structuring the existing business for future development, and in January 2016 they entered a large market selling their brand. They currently have two franchises in Mogi and Taubate.

From hobby to business

Company plans open 30 franchises by the end of the year. Valeria puts special feelings into her work, which she gave to her dishes from childhood. The passion for cooking was so great that Valeria, when she was 8 years old, even had her own recipe book. She kept it to this day as a memory. She recalls that at that time she really enjoyed collecting recipes. Even today, her favorite hobby is reading recipes.
