In particular, this also touched on Article 25 of the 4th chapter “On the basic requirements for ensuring road safety”, which regulates the fundamental provisions regarding the access of citizens to the governing bodies of their cars. Or, in the dry legislative language, vehicles. A new one is spelled out in it. vehicle classification and the B1 category driver's license that interests us, which are necessary to drive tricycles and quadricycles.
What kind driver license categories are currently available
According to the new law, a new list of categories and subcategories of TS is established in Russia. The decryption of the new driver’s license is as follows.
Categories
Category A. These are motorcycles, that is, two-wheeled vehicles, possibly with a side trailer. Three or four-wheel mechanisms having a mass of not more than 400 kg are equated to them.
Category B
1. Cars that are not included in category A fall here. They have an allowable weight of not more than 3.5 tons. The number of seats should be eight or less.
2. Cars falling into the first paragraph, but still coupled to a trailer with a maximum weight tolerance of no more than 750 kg.
3. In this category there are vehicles described in the first paragraph, but with a trailer heavier than 750 kg, not exceeding the mass of the car without load. The whole composition should not be heavier than 3.5 tons.
Category B
- Category B vehicles with a trailer that has a permissible weight exceeding 750 kg and is heavier than its “tractor” without load.
- Category B vehicles with a trailer having an allowable maximum mass of more than 750 kg, while the entire train is heavier than 3.5 tons.
Category C
- Cars not included in category D, with a permissible mass above 3.5 tons.
- The same cars, but with a trailer having an allowable weight of not more than 750 kg.
CE Category
This is a vehicle from category C, together with a trailer, a maximum weight tolerance of more than 750 kg.
Category D
- These are the vehicles that are used to carry passengers. They have nine or more seats, not including the driver's seat.
- The same vehicles that are described in the first paragraph, but with a trailer that has an allowable weight of not more than 750 kg.
Category DE. Motor vehicles falling into the D category, but having a trailer with an allowable weight of more than 750 kg. This includes articulated buses.
Category Tm. Future tram drivers will need it.
Category Tb. Without it, you will not drive a trolley bus.
Category M. Mopeds and light quadricycles.
Subcategories of Rights
Subcategory A1. These are motorcycles in which the engine has a working volume of less than 125 cubic centimeters. Maximum power is also taken into account. It should be no more than 11 kilowatts.
Subcategory B1. Those citizens who have a B1 driving license can drive tricycles and quadricycles. According to the classification (GOST R 51815–2001) adopted in Russia, a quadricycle is a motor vehicle that can travel at a speed of at least 25 km / h. It is equipped with an engine developing a power of not more than 15 kW, which is approximately equal to twenty horsepower. They are designed for use on general roads. In addition, such cars have a maximum permissible curb weight of 400 kg, and if they are designed to carry cargo, then 550 kg is also allowed.You should be aware that electric quadricycles do not take into account the mass of the battery itself. If your car meets all of the above requirements, then to drive it you must obtain a driver’s license with an open category B1.
Subcategory C1. This includes cars that do not fall into category D, with a maximum weight tolerance of more than 3.5 tons, but not higher than 7.5 tons, and also if such cars are coupled to a trailer that has a weight resolution of not more than 750 kilograms.
Subcategory C1E. It includes cars from the C1 subcategory, but coupled to a trailer with a permissible weight above 750 kilograms, but not more than the weight of the vehicle without load. It is important that the total weight of such a “train” does not exceed 12 tons.
Subcategory D1. Cars designed to move passengers. They are equipped with seats in the amount of eight to sixteen pieces. I especially want to emphasize the word "sedentary." Please note that this number is limited. Of course, we carry out all calculations without taking into account the driver's seat.
Similar cars were also included in this subcategory, but with a trailer having a permitted weight of not more than 750 kilograms.
Subcategory D1E. It serves to determine the location of vehicles from the D1 subcategory, but with a trailer that cannot be used to transport passengers with a maximum mass of more than 750 kilograms. It is important that it is not heavier than a car without a load, and their total mass does not exceed 12 tons.
What is a moped
Moped - This is a two- or three-wheeled vehicle with a mechanical drive. It can be equipped with an internal combustion engine with a volume of more than 50 cm³. Perhaps the use of an electric motor. Its rated power should be from 0.25 kW to 4 kW. The maximum speed of the moped is not higher than 50 km / h.
What is a quadricycle?
You should be aware that quadricycles or tricycles are motor vehicles that name four or three wheels respectively. They are designed for use on public roads. When buying such a vehicle, it is necessary to obtain a vehicle passport. They are generally subject to registration with the traffic police. A driver’s license is required to drive them. In their appearance, quadricycles differ very much.
It can be a mini-car or a three- or four-wheeled motorcycle. To manage such vehicles, you must have a category B1 driver's license. It is noteworthy that this applies only to owners of quadricycles, which have an engine displacement exceeding 50 cm³. For those owners who have a quadricycle with a smaller volume, it will be enough to acquire the rights of category M.
Mini ATVs
ATVs are all-terrain vehicles or off-road vehicles. They have three or four wheels, a seat and a motorcycle-type steering wheel. These cars are used to move only off the road. ATVs are registered with the State Technical Supervision Authority. To legally manage them, a tractor driver's certificate is required. When you purchase an ATV, a self-propelled car passport is issued.
What is considered a light quadricycle
Now we will determine what belongs to the category of light quadricycles. These are vehicles whose curb weight does not exceed 350 kg. It is noteworthy that this parameter does not take into account the mass of the battery used to operate the engine, if it is electric. The speed of such a car should not be higher than 45 km / h. If an internal combustion engine with a method of forced ignition of a fuel is used, its volume should not exceed 50 cm³.
If the quadricycle has a different type of internal combustion engine, for example, diesel, then it should not be more than 4 kW. The same applies when using an electric motor.
And how many categories
At first glance, it seems that sorting out is very difficult. However, the question of how many categories are right is quite realistic to answer. It turns out there are ten of them. These are A, B, BE, C, CE, D, DE, Tm, Tb, and M. But there are subcategories.There are six of them, and this is A1, B1, the category of rights that interests us, C1, C1E, D1, D1E. Deciphering the categories of driver's license shows that a more detailed distribution of the types and types of vehicles has been made.
Details are taken into account the tonnage of both cars and trailers, as well as the ratio of their masses and the total weight of the composition of vehicles. For drivers with vehicles with trailers, you will need category E. More specifically, those categories that include this letter “E”. Such as BE, CE, DE, C1E, D1, D1E. You just have to look which trailer is available. If, for example, you have a passenger car and its corresponding trailer, then it is enough to obtain the rights of category E, namely BE. It is necessary to take into account the allowed maximum weight of your car and trailer, their ratio and total weight.
How to get rights
To obtain a driver's license of a national sample, regardless of which category you apply for, you need to collect a number of documents.
Firstly, this is a passport. It can be replaced by any other that confirms your identity. For example, an ID card or military ID card. Citizens residing abroad permanently, if they are temporarily in the Russian Federation, it is enough to present a passport. This may be another document issued by the internal affairs bodies, which confirms the identity of the citizen.
Secondly, you will need an opinion from the medical commission, which will determine whether you can drive the vehicle.
Thirdly, you need a national driver’s license, of course, if you have one. This is if you need to upgrade the category.
Fourthly, it is necessary to undergo vocational training on rights in accordance with the procedure adopted by law. Then get a document confirming that you mastered this level.
Fifth, if a candidate for passing the exam and subsequently issuing him a national driver’s license is a minor, that is, he is 16 to 18 years old, written consent of the parents will be required. An exception may be cases when such persons are recognized as fully capable or are legally married.
Sixthly, submit an application and, as appropriate, proceed to the exams.
Exams, theoretical tests
