Diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and Ukraine began in 1992, on February 14, when a protocol was signed in Minsk. Then, within 30 days, the documents are sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, where they are considered for no more than 1 month. At the end of the period, if the application does not contain errors, the applicant withdraws from the citizenship of Ukraine. If there are errors, the citizen is given 8 months to re-submit documents with the corrected defects.
