When you refuse a boss, it’s best to do it delicately. To say categorically “no” is too rude, so you can ruin the relationship. But to justify yourself, while citing a lot of details excusing you, is not worth it. It may happen that your colleague who is “off” at work, having gone out a couple of times on a weekend, will be in more advantageous positions compared to you.

Therefore, refusing, you should try to maintain a reputation and make it clear to the head that next time, if necessary, you will help him out. And also, having come to work after the weekend, you need to confirm your readiness.

Suggest a solution to the problem

The fact that you are busy does not mean that you do not have the opportunity to put forward alternative proposals to solve the problem. At the same time, you need to understand that a good manager will not put pressure on an employee using forbidden techniques. He is well aware that his subordinates need to rest from work mentally and physically - for this there are weekends established by law.

Therefore, no one’s threats can be a reason for you to sacrifice your legitimate rest under pressure. And the boss who applies them is not a figure to be guided by.

Keep the situation under control

If you do not have urgent matters on the weekend and you, at the request of your superiors, go to work, make sure that this situation is only an exception, not a rule. When this is a rare occurrence, everything is fine. But if you are forced to do this constantly, then you are being used to your advantage.

In this case, you need to talk with your manager openly and demand a solution to the problem. It is necessary to remind him that the terms of your employment contract, and, accordingly, the labor law, are violated. Point out that you do not have the opportunity to have a good rest and do not have time to regain your strength in order to carry out the work effectively. And if such a conversation does not work, think about a job change.

Remember that, taking into account the needs of production and your boss and coming to the service after hours, you are doing a good job. But you should not forget about yourself, about your personal life, about your own health, good rest and hobbies. You need free time to live a normal life, paying attention to yourself, your family, children, relatives and friends.

And it is up to your superiors to organize the production process correctly, and not to yank you, plugging holes in the schedule of work that arose not through your fault, but through their fault. Therefore, to feel guilty without guilt by refusing the persistent boss is wrong.

And in order to take the right position, one should refrain from being polite, but firm and calm, feel confident in one's innocence, not succumb to threats, propose alternative solutions and keep the situation under control.
