We constantly deny ourselves small and big joys. We are obsessed with accumulation. And we ourselves do not really know what we are collecting money for. But recently, my grandmother told me one wise thing, after which I reconsidered my attitude to money and spending. Grandma advised me to spend money on stupid things. It seems that this is ridiculous, but after a little thought, I agreed with her.
Background
Before Easter, my mother and I decided to update the curtains in the kitchen. We bought the most fashionable ones - with lambrequins, with tassels and other fashionable decorative elements. As we did not try to put the curtains on the ledge, all the time something went wrong. Curtains safely fell on our heads, we cheerfully got out of them and took up work again.
Our difficult, but cheerful work was watched by the grandmother. She thoughtfully said that a few years ago she would have jumped to the ceiling with joy that she has such curtains. And now she doesn’t care. She added that everything is leaving: years, people, and with them dreams.
Grandma's advice
Having overcome the curtains, we then talked a lot over a cup of tea. My grandmother gave me and my mom many useful tips. She said that a person lives as long as he really wants something. Therefore, it is not necessary to deny everything to yourself. You need to pamper yourself, even if you want to buy sheer nonsense. After all, it is the process of spending money that gives satisfaction, not saving. You do not need to save every penny (money, by the way, is constantly depreciating), but to spend money on something that brings joy. This is life.
Sooner or later in life comes the moment when a person ceases to want. He is no longer interested in various trinkets, fashion accessories, clothes and other trifles. But he has accumulated money, which he no longer wants to spend. Grandmother said that if she had the opportunity to return several decades ago, she would not deny herself her desires.
My opinion
I thought for a long time about what my grandmother said, but in the end I agreed with her. Indeed, in my life there have already been similar situations. I really wanted a fashionable clutch. But I never bought it, because I thought it was an unreasonable waste. In the end, I deprived myself of a little, but joy. And the money was eventually spent on some household needs and products. In principle, buying a clutch would not hit my budget. Simply, saving on my desire, I bought a little more food and household chemicals. Nevertheless, I regret about the imperfect purchase to this day. And I still imagine how I could show off with him on walks and parties. So now I try to follow my grandmother's advice and pamper myself more often.
when construction is underway and you need to help your husband repay his debt by taking on the responsibility of buying groceries, paying utility bills, etc. As a result, I refused my dream so many times and it burned out. Still, it is vital to let my dream come true. they are 90% intangible to me, although there is nothing wrong with them being material.
I call such pleasant "procedures" ANOINTED NOSE WITH JAM.
if I see a cool thing and I like it sooooooo much, then you need to immediately "anoint the nose with jam": stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
And right away, money appears from somewhere, take it there, get out there, but the nose is anointed))) And you fly, flutter, and everyone around you is fine !!!!
Today, apartments (especially among young people) are crammed with unnecessary things and objects, without which you can safely do. Children's rooms are littered with dozens or hundreds of toys that the child played, a day or two from the force, and then they are lying in a heap, and the children bring the following Chinese fake artwork from the store, which is neither mind nor heart.
Well, if you save money, then you need to spend it for the soul and for good.
