Six months ago, in the winter, I became interested in reading cognitive literature. The content of the book says about how you need to plan your finances, as well as competently dispose of them. It was said in it that large accumulations begin with small amounts, which to any financially illiterate person seem insignificant and ridiculous.
By the way, it was in it that one very interesting story was written, which made a special impression on me.
Story
In America, the simplest woman lived, who worked on a regular job and went to the bank every Thursday in order to deposit $ 5 in her account. She performed this ritual as naturally as she brushed her teeth in the morning, had breakfast and did other things.
As a result, when this woman turned 82 years old, she came to this bank in order to withdraw the accumulated money, and was surprised: she had an impressive amount of 250 thousand dollars on her account! Even the employees of the institution were greatly surprised at this.
When she found out how big the amount at her disposal was, the woman decided to give part of the money for donations, distributing them in different spheres, and she left 20% of the amount to herself and the children.
This story has become a motivation for me.
Learning about this story, I began to think: even a poor American woman has $ 250,000, but for some reason I don’t, although I don’t consider myself a poor person.
Having read the relevant literature, I learned about one very interesting method of saving, which consists in determining for myself a small amount and regularly putting it aside. I decided to conduct an interesting experiment. So, after receiving each transfer of wages, I saved 1,000 rubles in a specially created piggy bank.
My relatives and friends knew that I was conducting an experiment, and sometimes they tried to make fun of me: they say how much money you have already accumulated there? Recently I answered such a question: well, somewhere around 20,000, to which my brother laughed, and then said: “Well, is that really money? Was it worth such an effort? ”Without thinking twice, I answered him:“ Give me 20,000 rubles. Right now. Just". As it turned out, he did not have this amount, and then he realized what was wrong.
In the process of collecting my money, there were many clever people who tried to lead me astray, but I did not succumb. Moreover, I began to motivate myself with the fact that by investing 1,000 rubles a month in the piggy bank I don’t do much damage to my budget, and I don’t collect a huge amount for the year, but nevertheless try to tear 12,000 out of a single wage! This is where the problem arises for the majority, and I can afford this little joy.
I have pleased myself
This morning I went to one of the shopping centers and just fell in love with boots that cost 22,000. Without thinking twice, I decided to buy them for myself. Yes, it was a spontaneous purchase, but I do not regret it at all, because this time I could afford to make it without pulling out most of the money from the monthly budget and not borrowing it from anyone.
Now, having received the result of my actions, I understand the value of each 1000 rubles, because it is of small amounts that a lot of money consists. Buying these boots, I perfectly understood that a critical situation could happen in which money would be very necessary.Thank God, nothing terrible happened either to me or to my loved ones, so I continue to enjoy my sudden new thing, while replenishing my airbag with new means - I will fulfill some other dream of them and give myself joy.
