This pub is the only building on Lundy that does not turn off the lights at night; in all other parts of the island, generators are turned off. Residents can hide in the pub from the rain or use a payphone. Therefore, the vacancy involves round-the-clock work, because Marisko never closes.
This pub is the main meeting place for the inhabitants of the island, leading a rather old-fashioned lifestyle, so it is important that its employees join the community and become part of it.
