Every day, the number of vehicles on the roads of our country is only increasing. This testifies to the indispensability of cars, because they help us to overcome long distances. Those who do not have their own cars use public transport. But anyway, we all use cars. With the increase in cars, the number of road accidents is always growing. Therefore, in Russia there is compulsory car insurance.
Compulsory motor insurance
Since 2003, compulsory motor third party liability insurance has been in force in Russia. Every year, all participants in the movement are required to purchase insurance policy. A large number of insurers are working in Russia, ready to provide OSAGO insurance, each of them has its own price. The insurance itself is just liability insurance. Many drivers do not approve of it, but simply consider pumping money.
But this is not so. Those who had to sue the perpetrators of the accidents, restore the car at their own expense and wait until the insolvent citizen once returns the money, on the side of the state. MTPL allows the injured person to hope that he will nevertheless receive, although not much, compensation from the insurance company. In a word, compulsory car insurance is the right and deliberate decision of our government.
Rating of insurance companies
Dozens of large and small insurance companies work in the Russian market. Almost all of them provide OSAGO service. Every year, companies lure customers, offering them various discounts and gifts. All of them claim that compulsory car insurance is the best way to protect yourself and others. There are various ratings of insurance companies in the Russian Federation, they are compiled annually and laid out for general review. For example, according to Expert RA, in 2015, the best companies are:
- Alfa Insurance;
- "Alliance";
- "VSK";
- VTB Insurance;
- Ingosstrakh;
- "MAX";
- "Renaissance Insurance";
- "RESO-Guarantee";
- Rosgosstrakh;
- SOGAZ;
- "Consent";
- UralSib;
- "Energogarant".
Here you already need to choose on your own, because all these insurance companies have been working on the Russian market for many years and have many reviews, good and bad. We have long been compulsory car insurance. Rosgosstrakh, for example, appeared on the market very first, but it has long been not at the first step in the ratings.
History of CTP in the Russian Federation
We know from history that compulsory motor third party liability insurance appeared in the USA in the first half of the 20th century. To such a decision, the government prompted the ingenious inventor of the conveyor Henry Ford. He started mass production inexpensive cars that quickly filled the streets of America. Already in the middle of the twentieth century, OSAGO reached the countries of Europe. The Soviet authorities considered this type of insurance unnecessary, respectively, did not introduce it in the country. And only in 2003, Russia accepted OSAGO Law. Compulsory car insurance has become an integral part of the system and traffic. A similar type of insurance exists in other countries of the former Soviet Union. For example, in Belarus there is also compulsory car insurance. Belgosstrakh is a market leader in such services in this country.
The difference between CASCO and CTP
As mentioned earlier, every year the number of vehicles on the roads only increases.In addition to CTP, in Russia there is another, voluntary type of auto insurance - CASCO insurance. Only a few use such a service, but every year the number of insured cars is growing. When registering a new car on credit, banks require customers to carry out the mandatory CASCO insurance, a car on credit does not get otherwise. A service of this kind is not cheap, but even if an insured event occurs, your interests will be protected. Documents for car insurance must be provided in the original (registration certificate and personal passport), insurance agencies do not work for copies.
Accident Conduct
If you have got into an accident, you need to follow the rules of the road.
- First: turn on the alarm if it is available and works.
- Secondly: to place a warning sign (in a settlement 15 meters behind, behind a settlement 30 meters, if there is a turn, a sign must be placed in front of it).
The most important thing that needs to be done is to provide first aid to the injured (if any) and call an ambulance. Before the arrival of the traffic police need to stay in place. Vehicles must not be moved.
Registration of an insured event
Many people wonder if car insurance is required. But if an accident happens to you, and you do not have a valid policy, you will have to pay for the damage from your own pocket. Therefore, there is CTP. When an insured event occurs, there are three options for how to arrange an accident:
- Europrotocol. Used for small accidents. In this case, you do not need to call the traffic police, the participants in the incident draw up everything on their own. You can use Europrotocol only if both car owners have valid policies and people were not injured in the accident.
- Direct settlement (direct loss compensation). It exists relatively recently, it allows the victim to seek compensation directly from his insurer, and not look for the insurance company responsible for the accident.
- Standard procedure. It is used for major accidents in which people or several car owners are injured.
The car insurance rule helps many injured people recover and repair their car.
The amount and terms of payment for CTP
To date, in Russia there are two more versions of the law on the payment of the insurance policy. The first - until 10/01/2014, the second - after 01/10/2014.
Edition until 01.10.2014:
- The person suffered or died - the compensation will be 160 thousand rubles.
- The property of one person suffered - 120 thousand rubles.
- The property of several people suffered - 160 thousand rubles.
Revision after 10/01/2014:
- A person suffered - 160 thousand rubles each.
- Property suffered - 400 thousand rubles each.
Both in the first and in the second edition, if the amount of compensation is insufficient, the injured party has the right to go to court and demand the rest of the money from the culprit of the accident.
In order for the compensation to be paid quickly, it is necessary to collect all the necessary documents, contact the insurance company in the shortest lines, where to write a statement about the occurrence of the insured event. After that, the company is obliged to pay no later than 20 calendar days. Next you just have to wait. The insurance company will either pay you the required amount or refuse to pay.
If there is no response after a twenty-day line, a penalty will be imposed - 1% for each day of delay in payment. There are times when the insurer pays a smaller amount to the victim, but do not be discouraged, you need to write a statement about the situation to the insurance company and wait for an answer within 10 days. In extreme situations, you can sue.
Denial of compensation
Since in our country there is a law on compulsory motor third-party liability insurance, it is precisely in it that the reasons for the refusal of the insurer to pay the policy are indicated. There are two reasons why you may not be refunded:
- Violation of the procedure when the car owner independently destroyed the traces of the accident.
- It is not an insured event when they failed to identify the culprit in the accident, the accident was done on purpose or both drivers were to blame, etc.
We can say with confidence that if the insurance company doubts your innocence, or you cannot provide a vehicle for inspection, then you will not see the payments.
Many accidents happen in Russia every day, some minor and some quite large. They cannot be avoided, but compulsory insurance can at least reduce risks and guarantee the payment of compensation to the victim.
