Getting a short-term tourist visa
Most often, Russian citizens have to apply to the French Embassy in Moscow in order to get a short-term tourist visa for up to three months. For this purpose, the applicant fills out a special form and prepares the necessary documents. The application form is downloaded from the embassy's website, or is taken at the consular department.

It must be remembered that applying for a visa should be done no later than 90 days before the planned departure. The application review period is 10 days; if necessary, it can be extended to 30.
A Schengen tourist visa is issued after payment of a fee of 35 euros.

Long-stay visas
The French Embassy in Moscow can apply for a short-term visa for a longer period: from one to five. Being on it abroad is also permissible up to three months, but the total validity of a visa can be equal to five years.
For a longer visit to France (for example, for employment), you need to apply for a long-term visa, which will no longer be Schengen. To get it, you need to provide the French Embassy in Moscow with the address of the planned place of stay and the copy of the Frenchman's identity card that provides housing or work requested in the prefecture.

Features of applying for a visa

The validity of the passport should not end earlier than three months from the date of the final travel date. It should contain 2 empty sheets. When a citizen is the holder of two valid passports, both should be provided.
