Baby registration after birth: step by step instructions

So the joyful event that parents had been waiting for a happy 40 weeks happened: their baby was born. From this day on, the efforts for his upbringing and care will fall on the shoulders of his parents for many years, until about coming of age. Among the main actions that need to be done in the near future is the execution of a number of documents, among which the registration of the child plays an important role.

child's place of registration

After the baby is born, parents (guardians) are given limited time for paperwork. Usually it is no more than six months. It is not worth delaying with this process, since despite the fact that the legislation of the Russian Federation does not provide for any penalties for violation of the registration deadlines, in practice it turns out differently. But first things first.

A baby is born - what's next?

The article will not contain information about caring for newborns, about how to feed, swaddle, etc. We will only talk about legal issues that need to be addressed, among which the main one is the registration of a newborn baby. How to draw up, what documents are needed?

After the young mother and her baby are discharged from the maternity hospital, she will receive a number of documents in her hands that she will need in the future to receive a birth certificate. Of course, you shouldn’t immediately run to the registry office, and there will be no strength for this at first, but experts do not advise delaying this.

Documents to be issued at the hospital

So, after discharge, the mother will be given the following documents filled out by the doctor who was present at the birth:

  1. Mother exchange card. Provides information on how the birth took place and the recovery process. This document is transmitted to the women's department, where a young mother was observed.
  2. Exchange card of a child. It contains information about the newborn, among which the main ones: gender, weight, height. A health rating on the Apgar scale is given (mothers will understand). It is indicated what vaccinations and at what time were given. These data must be transferred to the children's clinic for further monitoring of the baby's health.
  3. Birth certificate. It contains information about where and when the baby was born, who took birth, and confirms the fact of birth. Registration of a child after birth is possible only after receipt birth certificates. It is issued by the registry office in exchange for this certificate.

The very first documents

For registration of a child, for registration of benefits for care, for birth, for obtaining a medical policy - for all this it is necessary to obtain the main document of the baby - a birth certificate. He will use it for fourteen years, that is, before receiving a passport.

To obtain a certificate, you must contact the nearest registry office. There you must provide a certificate issued at the maternity hospital, documents of both parents (passports), as well as a certificate of marriage, if any.

temporary registration of a child

It is worth remembering that if both parents who are not legally married are indicated in the birth certificate, then the personal presence of both father and mother is necessary. If the marriage between the parents is concluded, then a statement from one of the parents of the baby will be enough.

By the way, at present, many maternity hospitals provide a free service for obtaining a birth certificate without visiting the registry office. That is, on the day of discharge, instead of a birth certificate, the young mother receives a certificate, in the presence of which a newborn child is registered. The service is available for single mothers and officially married parents.

In the registry office, parents will be given a birth certificate and a certificate in the prescribed form, necessary for registration of children's payments and benefits. This certificate is valid for six months, so during this time it is important to submit documents for the appointment of benefits. It is worth remembering that benefits will not be assigned if the child is not registered after birth.

Registration of a child - why is it needed?

Registration of a child is necessary to receive a number of services, for example, such as: getting a place in a kindergarten, assigning benefits and benefits, getting a medical policy. By the way, in the first six months of a child’s life, he has the right to receive medical care without the compulsory medical insurance policy (compulsory medical insurance), but after this period he will already be denied admission to the clinic. It is important to know this in order to avoid unpleasant situations, therefore, a child must be registered in the apartment within six months from the date of birth. In addition, without the availability of registration it will not be possible to submit an application for the appointment and payment of child benefits.

As for fines for violation of the deadlines allowed for registration, they are not provided. But, in turn, there is an administrative penalty in the form of a fine of 2000-2500 rubles for living without a residence permit.

What documents are needed to register a child?

Important! For those parents who register for the child during the first month, certificates from the second parent in this case are not required.

Consent of the owners of the living space - is it necessary?

A very topical issue that arises in almost every parent when registering a child. We answer: if the place of registration of the child coincides with the place of registration of one of the parents, then the consent of the apartment owners is not required. That is, for example, the father is registered in the apartment, but the owner is his mother (grandmother of the child). When registering, its permission is not necessary, but if the father is not registered there, then, of course, they will require consent.

Registration deadline

Typically, the registration process takes no more than three business days. At this time, the birth certificate is taken from the parents, so you need to be prepared for this.

Despite the long list of documents and certificates required for registration, you can get them on the same day when the parents came to apply for registration at the office of the Housing Office or passport office. In extreme cases, in the absence of any documents, you can come the next day with a complete list of everything you need.

Where will the child's registration be indicated?

Employees of the passport office after registration must note this fact in the birth certificate. A stamp is affixed on the back to confirm that the child has received a permanent residence permit.

Temporary registration

Temporary registration must be issued by every citizen of the Russian Federation who has lived in a certain territory for more than 90 days and has no registration in the specified locality. Temporary registration of a child can be issued in the presence of temporary registration with one of the parents. The registration period is negotiated with the owner of the premises.
