In recent years, both in Moscow and in the Northern capital, an underground high-speed transport system has been actively built. The deepest metro station in St. Petersburg, Admiralteyskaya, is the 65th St. Petersburg metro station. It refers to new objects, although its necessity for the city was discussed already in the 60s. last century. It was commissioned in 2011, December 28. However, according to official documentation, the station received passengers only in November 2013.
Many years of difficulty with the lobby
From the moment the Admiralty Bookmarked, she was haunted by failure. For example, in 1999, the deepest metro station in St. Petersburg, founded in 1997, was classified as a “ghost station”. This concept was introduced by diggers and applied to stations, for some reason not accessible to passengers. One of the reasons hindering the commissioning of the Admiralteyskaya was the difficulty in choosing a place for the ground lobby in the historical part of the city.
Only in the summer of 2009, a house was demolished (Kirpichny Lane, No. 1/4), on the site of which it was originally planned to build an office building, and the lobby of this metro station was to fit into it. Serious legal complications arose with the tenants who privatized the apartments - no one wanted to leave the center of the Northern capital. Thus, the deepest metro station in St. Petersburg was built for almost 15 years.
Two escalator marches
During the construction of the inclined escalator, a tunnel shield was used, which was first used for tunneling under the Thames. In St. Petersburg, it was first used when driving an inclined tunnel at the Obvodnoy Canal station.
It is interesting that the deepest metro station in St. Petersburg is located directly below the ground lobby, because the escalator passage has not one, but two flights. Similarly to the Proletarskaya station, there is an intermediate underground hall between the two marches, but there is also a significant difference in their designs - the second escalator span is located in the opposite direction and, thus, is just below the starting point of the escalator.
The city center was not supposed to suffer
The deepest metro station in St. Petersburg belongs to the Primorsky radius of the Frunze-Primorsky line and, as mentioned above, is located under the very center of the historical part of the city, between the Sportivnaya and Sadovaya stations. The construction of the station was associated with certain difficulties. Firstly, half of the entire route of the tunnel passed under the conditions of a quicksand, and extremely unstable soils were found along the entire length of the underground passage.Secondly, at the top was the densely populated historical center of the huge city, the name of the station itself is associated with the Admiralty building located nearby. And the entrance to the station itself is located at the intersection of two central highways - Malaya Morskaya Street and Brick Avenue. The compacted building, in which almost every stone is an invaluable relic, and each object is an architectural or historical monument, should not have suffered in any way.
Difficulties and innovations of construction
In addition, the construction site itself was two times less than necessary, and the tunnel length was 120 meters. He deepened at a slope of 30 degrees. Because of these difficulties, the Aurora complex (diameter 10.5 meters), mentioned above, supplied by the German company Herrenknecht, punched the ground for 2.5 months. The construction of the long-suffering Admiralteyskaya is associated with several interesting facts. For example, in January 2011, a huge bright blue tent was deployed over a construction site, which simultaneously performed several functions.
The first is sound insulation, which allowed metro builders to work at night, without breaking the law. The tent provided hydro- and thermal insulation, created the necessary conditions for working in three shifts, which was necessary for the continuity of the work cycle - stops in such difficult soil are practically impossible. The tent has a 10-year warranty, so it can also be used at other sites.
Construction methods and some technical parameters
It should be noted that such a successful passage of the tunnel, which ensured minimal subsidence of the soil, was realized thanks to the method of anticipatory fixing of the vault, developed and applied by engineer Yu. A. Filonov. The deepest metro in St. Petersburg (the scheme is attached to the material) is characterized by the following data. 
The first large-slope escalator E75T connects the lobby located on the ground and the connecting corridor at a depth of 67.8 meters, the length of which is 112 meters. The next E25T escalator, deployed in the opposite direction, has a small inclination. The lifting height of both escalators is characterized, respectively, by the following figures - 68.7 and 15.2 meters. The entire station is 162 meters long, while the central hall is 110.
Station decoration
The interior decoration of the Admiralteyskaya column-wall station is characterized by the presence of beautiful mosaic panels associated with the water element - the Neva, the Foundation of the Admiralty and the Admiralty. The theme is continued by the stained glass composition. Between the columns are unique medallions with portraits of prominent Russian naval commanders - Apraksin and Ushakov, Nakhimov and Makarov, Grigorovich and Bellingshausen. 
In the lining of the station marble "gazgan" was used. Mansurovsky granite and red from the Kashin mountain deposit are paved with Admiralteyskaya floors. Three wind roses, bordered by golden sea chevrons, are placed over the floor area in the form of inlays.
