History of creation
In 1947, a competition for the best pistol, intended for the highest command of the Soviet Army, started in the USSR. The TT already existing at that time, like the Naganova revolver, was declared obsolete. In addition, it was decided to introduce two types of weapons into the army’s equipment: a long-barreled one for line officers and a compact short-barreled one for high command (senior officers).
According to the established rules, it was necessary to create a device with a self-cocking trigger mechanism and a free shutter based on Walther PP 1929 release. The gun, presented by Nikolai Fedorovich Makarov, differed from its prototype in the following parameters: simpler design and, as a result, easier maintenance, the ability to use in extreme environmental conditions, increased strength of parts, and the ability to accelerate the pace of mass production.
Makarov pistol was in service with the security forces from 1951 to 1991. However, to this day it is widely used in the army and law enforcement agencies.
Creating a gas model PM
In 1997, the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant launched the first Makarov gas pistol, and launched it mass production. In pneumatic Makarov cans can be used weighing 12 and 8 g. In the latter case, a small installation of the adapter is required. Sights (front and rear sights) do not have the ability to adjust.In addition, it is not possible to install additional optical equipment on a gas gun.
Gun Cleaning and Lubrication
Any weapon, whether pneumatic or firearms, needs regular and comprehensive care, which includes timely cleaning and lubrication, proper storage and respect.
The gun needs to be cleaned in the following cases:
- in a combat situation - daily during a period of quiet military operations;
- after training and shooting classes - immediately upon their completion;
- after a week without use.
The gun is cleaned in the following order:
- First of all, it is necessary to prepare tools, that is, wipes and lubricants. Only then can you start disassembling the gun and cleaning it. The first is to clean the bore. This is done with rags and liquid gun grease until the tissue removed from the bore is clean. Then the chamber is cleaned in a similar way.
- Subsequent cleaning of the trunks must be performed in the same order, after which the barrel bore and the chamber must be wiped with a dry tow.
- The next step is to clean the frame of the gun, bolt, return spring, bolt delay and other metal mechanisms with a solution of RFS or liquid lubricant with a clean rag. After cleaning, all parts of the gun need to be dried for a while in the shade, and then reassemble in the reverse order.
Accuracy and dispersion
The Makarov gas pistol, despite its compactness, has good accuracy. Shot with standard cartridges at a distance of 25 meters provides a dispersion radius of 75 m, at a distance of 50 mm the radius is equal to 160 mm.
How to determine if your gas gun is accurate enough? The impact, its strength and accuracy are checked using a black circle with a diameter of 25 cm. It is mounted on a shield measuring 1 by 1.5 m. If all 4 holes from shots enter a circle with a diameter of 15 cm, the accuracy of the battle is considered normal. Deviation of the midpoint of the hole from the control within 5 cm is included in the permissible average norms.
Standard equipment for gas PM
Standard set of Makarov gas pistol manufactured by Izhevsk Mechanical Plant:
- directly gas gun;
- instruction manual containing the assembly and disassembly of the gun, its cleaning and lubrication, as well as basic safety requirements;
- a set of spare parts for repair, consisting of a set of several seals and a universal screwdriver;
- a set of ammunition (usually 200 balls).
Additional gun care products, however, like gas cylinders for it, are purchased separately by the buyer. All other accessories, such as holsters or bullets, are not included in the basic equipment. When going to the gun shop, do not forget that a gas pistol needs permission. You may have to present it when buying the appropriate accessories.
