Own quail breeding business

Building a quail breeding business is not a big deal. Such activities are driven by relevance, profitability and short payback period. Based on the many years of experience of professional poultry farmers, quail breeding makes sense only when their number is at least 600 animals. Due to the rapid growth of birds, as well as their high fecundity, during the year you can increase the number of quail up to 10 times.

Breeding quails as a business

The largest share of expenses in creating a business is the purchase of equipment, hatching eggs and quails directly. As a room for a quail farm, as a rule, a small hangar is used. It must have lighting and heating. A fairly important factor in the successful fertility of birds is maintaining the temperature within 19-20 degrees Celsius and relative humidity 65-70%. In addition, the hangar should be well ventilated without the presence of drafts. It is important to immediately note that the quail organism does not respond well to drafts and bright lighting.

Production plan

                Industrial breeding of quail involves the cultivation of 600 goals. For such a number of birds you will need no more than 20 square meters of space. For high-quality production, it is necessary to divide a small hangar into several rooms, where food will be stored and prepared, incubators will be located and where young birds will be kept.

For the maintenance of adult chicks, it is advisable to use cell batteries that are equipped with feeders, drinking bowls. These batteries consist of 6 total cells and are made with a slight slope for convenient egg assembly. In one battery, you can easily grow no more than 270 chicks. The cost of such equipment is from 2700 to 3300 rubles. It is worth noting that in the presence of building skills, such a feeder can be made independently. It includes plywood, metal sheets, a welded galvanized network and fittings.quail breeding

Since breeding quails at home leads to the loss of female instinct for planting eggs, an incubator will be required to create a farm. Incubation of eggs involves the use of a room at a temperature of 37-39 degrees Celsius. You can make it yourself if you find drawings and diagrams. If you do not have the skill in manufacturing such items, you will have to purchase an incubator in a specialized store. Its market value can vary from 3,300 to 6,500 rubles, based on size, functionality, the ability to set temperature and humidity modes.

To grow chicks, you need to make or purchase boxes yourself. As a material, it is better to use wood or plywood. The dimensions of the drawers on average should be 650 * 650 * 250 mm. Boxes must be equipped with lamps for lighting and heating, which are able to maintain a given temperature regime.

Do not forget about food for quail and their chicks. The cost of special food is in different price ranges and depends on the composition of the feed and its ingredients. The average price of feed is 100-250 rubles.

                Sales plan

Quail breeding ends with their marketing and profit. Eggs and carcasses of birds are ideal as products. As a rule, they are sold through deliveries to supermarkets, retail food stores, markets, restaurants, motels, kindergartens, schools and other public organizations.

To ensure uninterrupted and high-quality breeding of quail at home, 1-2 workers will be required.The duties of workers include preparing food, feeding birds, collecting eggs, cleaning and cleaning the premises and the incubator, and controlling temperature and humidity. It is recommended to run this business alone with a head volume of up to 600 birds, then in a mathematical progression you can hire workers, that is, up to 1200 goals - 1 employee, up to 1800 - 2 employees, etc.

The average cost of one quail carcass is from 50 to 80 rubles, the cost of eggs is from 2 to 6 rubles. When selling quail chicks, their cost in a weekly age is up to 25 rubles, and in a monthly age - up to 40 rubles.

                Financial plan

Industrial breeding of quail requires a relatively small investment. Based on the production plan and the sales plan of the products, it is not difficult to calculate the capital costs for the implementation of the project.

  • rental of premises (20 sq.m.) - up to 10 000 rubles;
  • acquisition of quail (600 goals) - up to 21,000 rubles;
  • cell batteries (600 heads) - up to 8,000 rubles;
  • incubator - up to 6 500 rubles;
  • feed - up to 3,000 rubles;
  • the cost of registering a company is 1,000 rubles.

Total: 49,500 rubles per 600 quails.

Profit and payback period

Breeding quails as a business involves seasonality, on which profit making also depends. Based on the data of the sales plan, we calculate the amount of our profit, deductions, future costs and payback period.

  • 600 goals on average increase their population by 7-8 times, which is 4,800 quail individuals;
  • upon the sale of 4,000 carcasses of chicks, which are more than one month old, we receive revenue of 160,000 rubles;
  • when selling the same number of adult individuals, you can get up to 320,000 rubles, but here it is worth considering the additional costs of growing individuals.
  • having sold 4 thousand babies, we get 160,000 - 34,000 we pay to the pension fund - 4,000 we pay taxes - 20,000 we pay rent = 102,000 rubles of net profit.

Thus, the payback period will be equal to the implementation of the first quail population.

Breeding quails as the main business activity includes many advantages in the field of food production. Poultry meat is considered a delicacy, moreover, it has properties that are beneficial to the human body. This ensures high demand, which is the key to monthly high profits.

Of course, quail breeding is a good help for the family budget, but not a business, all the more very profitable, as they say. Upon retirement, I decided to try to make money on breeding quail. I kept a little for myself before. He made the cages, I had a room (10t container), insulated, repaired, bought an incubator, registered a "peasant farm" without it, you can’t sell the goods anywhere, you won’t sell them. I bought the packaging for the eggs, the labels were printed at the printing house. I agreed with a couple of stores to give them eggs for sale. The price of the eggs was set to the lowest. Disappointment came in a month, there was no expected demand, and I began to sell products. 100 laying hens laid about 80 eggs per day, 3-5 boxes (16 eggs each) were sold in stores. And here the young growth began to grow up. I decided to try to sell carcasses, I agreed on a couple of cafe-restaurants, things started to go livelier, the costs began to pay off, there was a profit, and with it plans to expand production. But that wasn’t the case, the firemen were the first to come, it’s not like that, it’s not like that, they wrote out a fine, a month later they came to see the elimination of remarks, the other thing is wrong - again a fine. With a bunch of spent nerves, he somehow fought back. Rospotrebnadzor attached sanitary standards, they were almost closed, but fined.While fought with them, the tax fined, did not submit information about the employees. And so for half a year he fed all sorts of government agencies except himself. Worked at a loss. Tired of spat he closed the farm, I keep quails for myself from 20 in the winter to 400 pcs. summer. I hammer 50 pieces at once and into the freezer. I sell a few carcasses and eggs to friends. We have a natural exchange with a neighbor, he keeps hens. We exchange eggs and meat.
