Traveling abroad is always positive emotions, because you can see a new country, get acquainted with customs and culture, and see many sights. And for the child it is also a new experience, communication and incentive to learn a foreign language. True, for parents, the child’s trip abroad, the documents necessary for him, as well as obtaining permission may seem like a problem.
So many children dream of visiting other countries and seeing something new. After all, babies are naturally curious. They are interested in everything new and what they have not yet seen. A trip abroad will help broaden their horizons; they will see live in other countries, which before that they had only seen on television. But in order for a child to go abroad, special documents are needed, without which the departure will be closed.
Trip planning
Today, traveling abroad is not as difficult as before. It takes a little time to complete all the documents. There are also special companies that collect all the papers and save parents from the need to do everything on their own.
For a comfortable and interesting trip, you only need to pre-select the route that suits your budget, as well as draw up a power of attorney for the child. Now there are a huge number of travel agencies that offer different travel options. It is not necessary to think that if the child is a minor and does not have a passport, then preparation will take a lot of time. The law establishes a number of mandatory procedures that will help avoid problems.
Despite the fact that the child is endowed with various rights from birth, he still cannot fully use them all. Therefore, parents are responsible for the actions of children.
So, in order for a child who is not eighteen to go abroad to be legal, you need to have an identity card and confirm that the minor can be with this adult.
Also, in order to ensure that there are no troubles when leaving the child abroad, you should certainly consult the embassy. There you can find a list of documents required to visit any country. And if all the papers are available, this will save you from many troubles.
What documents are needed for the child
Going abroad without unnecessary problems is possible only on condition that all the certificates are on hand, and you also need an identity document. Without him, you simply will not be allowed out of the country. But the law allows you to make a choice how to draw up this document. Firstly, you can make a passport for a child. Another option is to enter information about this minor in the passport of his father or mother. You can do, by the way, both that and another at once.
In addition, when traveling abroad, a child accompanied by parents or a guardian, they must have with them a document that will confirm their family ties. It can be a birth certificate, custody or marriage certificate of parents. If such a document is not available, then, unfortunately, they will not let you go abroad.
List of documents
Without fail, in order not to have problems at posts at the border, you must have with you all of the following documents:
- foreign passport of parents, guardians or adoptive parents;
- minor passport, if he was fourteen;
- birth certificate, adoption of a child or marriage certificate;
- Also, if a child travels to another country with one parent, then the consent of another must be drawn up.
You also need to remember that after reaching the age of fourteen, each child must apply for a passport (if border crossing is necessary). One more thing: if the child is six years old, then when entering his data into the foreign passport of the parents you need to paste a photograph.
We will analyze in more detail the documents that are needed to cross the border.
international passport
If information about a child under the age of 14 is inscribed in the passport (of an old model) of the father or mother and a photograph (under 6 years old) is pasted, then the child does not need his own passport.
But if the parents have a biometric passport, then the child cannot be entered into it, and he will need his own. In order to get such a passport for a child, you need to contact the regional FMS of Russia.
Consent of the second parent to leave
It is legally established that when a minor travels to another country, if he goes there with his mother or father, you need to get a notary's consent for the child to travel abroad from the second parent. But if earlier in posts at the border a statement was received from the second parent that he does not want his child to be taken away, then the first parent can be detained until the situation is clarified. This case is considered in court (it is necessary for the parent who wants to take out the child to file an application).
Such consent must be presented at the entrance to the country that you want to visit. Therefore, it is best to issue this paper in several copies: for the embassy and for border guards.
If you want to make several trips to different countries, then you need to get consent for a long trip and visit to several states, but usually it is issued all the same for one border crossing.
Group Travel
If a child has the opportunity to visit other countries together with a group of other children (a class trip with the leader or you need to visit the next round of competitions, or just go on vacation), then this opportunity should not be missed. After all, such trips are always cheaper, and traveling with a large company is much more profitable and interesting than if the child is only with his parents.
If traveling abroad is supposed with a group of minor children unaccompanied by any family member or guardians, then the leader will be responsible for them. In order for him to travel abroad with minor companions, you need to get a special document - a power of attorney. It is executed by relatives in the name of the one who will lead the group and accompany it. Also, children, if they are fourteen years old, need to issue their own foreign passport.
One important point: it is better to issue a power of attorney for a child in advance, at least for a week.
Consent to travel abroad
It can only be given by a legal representative who bears all responsibility for the child. This permission is given for a planned trip, which involves visiting one or more countries. In order to obtain consent for a child to travel abroad, you must have with you the birth certificate of a minor (original document). Without it, such a procedure would not be possible.
Such permission shall indicate the country where the minor child will travel abroad, and the duration of the trip. The name of the state must be spelled correctly, concretely (without general wording and as indicated in international names). If the duration of the trip is long, and it will not be substantiated by anything, then this may entail some troubles.
If for some reason it’s impossible to obtain consent to the child’s travel abroad, for example, the death of the second parent, or dissolution of the marriage, deprivation of rights, then there are several documents that will allow you to travel abroad:
- copy of death certificate to be certified by a notary;
- confirmation that the mother is registered as a loner (original);
- a document from the police confirming that it is impossible to establish the whereabouts of the second parent if he is considered missing;
- court decision on the deprivation of parental rights (copy).
Departure to the CIS countries
If a child under 14 years old wants to go on vacation to Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, and if his parents will go with him, then you need to have a birth certificate of a minor with a special stamp (proof of citizenship of our country). Parents also need to have a passport with them. Well, ideally, also issue a passport for a child.
Due to the political situation in the country and tensions with Ukraine, from the first of March of this year, Russian citizens who are under the age of fourteen are prohibited from entering this country with an internal passport.
