Each student knows that due to irregular visits to classes and lectures, as well as a frivolous attitude to the educational process, the so-called tail forms over time. Most often, there are more than one. And then comes a difficult period when it is necessary to get rid of debts.
Debt and reasons for its occurrence
After the end of the semester, an examination session begins at the educational institution. However, not every student is allowed to attend, but only those who have no academic debt. In other words, this is an unsatisfactory result in any discipline, as well as laboratory, practical, term paper or thesis.
“Tails” can form for several reasons:
- The student is not admitted to the intermediate certification.
- Missed classes are 50% or more.
- The student is not admitted to the examination session.
- The absence of a student in the test or exam without good reason.
- Receiving a poor grade.
Retake process
The retake process is called the "elimination of academic debt." In educational institutions, students must pass the "tails" for one academic year. If the student has 2 debts during the winter session, then the dean of the faculty sets the specific terms necessary to eliminate the debt. They are 30 calendar days from the start of the new semester. If it appeared in the summer, then the same dates are set from the beginning of the school year.
The dean’s office has the right to appoint in the next semester an in-depth study of the discipline for which there is academic debt.
Retake discipline or test work can be 2 times. Dates are set by the university. They do not include illness time, academic leave or pregnancy with childbirth.
For the first time, retaking takes place to the teacher, leading the discipline in which academic debt arose. If the student could not pass the “tail”, then for the second time a special commission is assembled, which includes the dean, the representative of the faculty and the teacher.

- Take in the dean’s office the form of the established sample and fill it.
- Pay for a retake of discipline or other work a fixed amount at the box office.
- Hand in a copy of the receipt and get a referral (training manual).
- Sign it with the dean or his deputy.
- Take an exam or a test for a positive mark.
To retake the necessary items, an additional session is appointed. Her schedule is on the stands next to the dates of the examination session. Students who have more than 3 debts are not allowed to retake - in this case, the dean’s office prepares documents for expulsion.
Tips for quickly eliminating tails
- Prevention As you know, it is better to prevent an ailment than to cure. It is in the first session that the largest number of students “flies”. In order not to fall into their number, you should carefully find out the dates of the examination session, deal with the conditions for admission to exams and tests, find out the number of debts that lead to deductions, and the terms for their retake.
- There are situations when the assessment is not put on the sheet and there is an opportunity to retake the “tail” during the examination session. Some debtors manage to retake the test or exam 5-10 times.
- If a student is studying in a free form of training and receives a scholarship, then in no case should he be in arrears.Even the presence of one “tail” automatically deprives him of the accrual of funds throughout the semester. Therefore, the student's academic debt on state orders is a very serious problem.
- There is another trick. Some teachers allow you to retake the test or exam for an assessment that will be higher than received. So, some students who want to get a red diploma consciously go along with debtors to improve their average mark.
