State Academic Scholarship

A scholarship for students has always been a welcome addition to the budget and an award for diligence and achievements in the field of education. After all, it is always nice to receive not only a letter or gratitude, but also a reward in monetary terms. Especially for a student who does not have his own earnings. The education system involves a wide variety of rewards, and what kind of financial gratitude the student will receive depends on him alone.

Academic scholarship

A scholarship is a cash payment to students accrued based on the results of their studies.

The state academic scholarship is awarded based on the results of the sessions and is determined three times a year:

• From January 1 to April 30, accrued according to the results of the fall semester.
• From May 1 to August 31, accrued according to the results of the spring semester.
• Between September 1 and December 31, accrued based on the results of the summer semester, including the session.

Students taking full-time studies on a budgetary basis, starting from the first year of the first semester, will receive a regular academic scholarship. According to the results of the autumn session, it may change or be rejected altogether.

The scholarship is awarded monthly for a specified period. At the end of this period, the next one is calculated according to the results of the previous session. The type and size of the scholarship is determined by the results of the past semester and session, depending on the average score, the availability of scientific achievements, participation in scientific competitions and so on.

Increased scholarships

An increased state academic scholarship is awarded to students based on the results of at least two consecutive sessions and not earlier than for the 2nd year of study.

The conditions for obtaining an increased scholarship are:

• Lack of academic debt retakes for disrespectful reasons.
• The availability of ratings is only “good” and “excellent”. But marks "excellent" should be at least 50%.
• The student has prizes for victories at ongoing scientific competitions, competitions or any other activities related to scientific activities. Such achievements shall be taken into account for at least the last two years preceding the appointment of this scholarship.
• Participation in scientific conferences.

In the event that a student receives a debt or retakes for an excusable reason, the next two semesters an increased scholarship is not awarded. Also, an increased academic scholarship is awarded to first-year and second-year undergraduates.

Government scholarship

A scholarship of the Government of the Russian Federation can be awarded to students according to the following criteria:

• During the previous two sessions, the student should have only “good” and “excellent” marks, where quantitatively “excellent” marks will be at least 50%.
• The student must take part and receive prizes at international and national competitions, olympiads and competitions in scientific activity.
• Have awards for research work, grants for discoveries and inventions.
• Publish in scientific journals, participate in conferences.

Presidential Scholarship

Presidential scholarships can be awarded to students who have only excellent marks throughout the educational process. Such a scholarship is awarded no earlier than the 2nd year on the following conditions:

• The student must have diplomas or other documents of the winner of national and international competitions, competitions, competitions or other similar events of national or international importance.
• Be the author of at least 2 inventions.
• Publish with scientific articles in the central scientific Russian and foreign publications.

Governor Scholarship

Such scholarships can have different names, for example, the mayor of the city, the head of administration, the governor.

To receive such a payment, a student must:

• Have marks “good” and “excellent”, where marks “excellent” will be more than half during the previous two sessions.
• Actively participate in the scientific activities of the educational institution and technical creativity.
• Have the publication of their articles in various publications.
• Participate in scientific conferences and competitions.

Such scholarships are awarded no earlier than from the second year.

Scholarships

There is a category of scholarships for students awarded for success in certain areas of scientific activity, which are personalized, that is, bear the name of a scientist or scientist. Such scholarships shall be granted provided that:

• The student has a rating of "excellent" for the last three or more semesters in a row.
• Actively conducts scientific activities and has publications of his works, receives prizes and awards for scientific activities, participates in scientific conferences.

The list of scholarships may vary depending on the discretion of the institution. A personal academic scholarship, the size of which is determined on the same basis as for all others, is awarded for success in scientific work with the name of a scientist representing this industry.

Examples:

• Scholarship named after A.I. Solzhenitsyna and A.A. Voznesensky awarded for achievements in literary creation, journalism or political science.
• Scholarship named after D.S. Likhacheva is awarded for achievements in such sciences as philology and cultural studies.
• Scholarship named after Yu.D. Maslyukova is awarded to students of such specialties as transport technology, electrical engineering and radio engineering.
• Scholarship named after V.A. Tumanova is awarded for achievements in scientific research.

Social scholarship

There are such categories of students who are awarded social scholarships. Among them distinguish between state and governor. The categories that are eligible for the award and payment of social scholarships include:

• Orphans.
• Children without parental care from 18 to 23 years old.
• Disabled people of the 1st or 2nd groups.
• Students from low-income families.
• Students with parents with disabilities.
• Affected by the Chernobyl accident and their children.
• Disabled people, participants and war veterans.

Such an academic scholarship is awarded to students for a period of one calendar year. To award it, you will need to submit an extract from the social protection department or a medical certificate confirming the student's status. Assigned social scholarship from the moment of submitting the necessary documents to the educational institution.

An increased social scholarship can be awarded to students who have a grade of "good" or "excellent" and the status at which such payments are awarded.

A social gubernatorial scholarship is awarded on the same terms as a general gubernatorial scholarship. Its size is larger, but taking into account the fact that the student belongs to one of the groups for which a social scholarship is defined.

Compensation for travel and financial assistance

For students who have a permanent residence outside the city in which it is located, but do not have the opportunity to live in a hostel of an educational institution for a good reason, for example, if a student is forced to care for an disabled parent or a disabled person, travel compensation is determined. Similar payments are made once per semester. To apply for such compensation, you must submit an application or certificate confirming the need to receive it.

There is also another type of social benefits - this is material assistance. As a rule, such payments are made once.

Material assistance is provided to students:

• In pregnancy.
• By birth
• At the conclusion of marriage.
• At the death of a close relative.

For the 2014-2015 academic year, the amount of established scholarships in the Russian Federation in rubles is:

• State Academic - 1340 per month.
• Increased state - 5000-7000, for graduate students 11000-14000.
• Social - 2010.
• The Russian government - 1400, and for graduate students 3600.
• President of the Russian Federation - 2200, for graduate students 4500.

Name scholarships:

• Solzhenitsyna - 1,500.
• Tumanova - 2000.
• Ascension - 1500.

Presidential and government scholarships can also vary in line of activity, for example, for economics and modernization, the amount of payments will be from 5000 to 7000, and for graduate students in these areas - from 11 to 14 thousand rubles. For the 2015-2016 academic year, a change in the amount of scholarships is not planned.

The procedure for the appointment of an academic scholarship is determined by the legislation of the Russian Federation and is controlled by the Ministry of Education. Each full-time student studying on a budget has the right to cash payments, subject to high responsibility for the quality of their own education.
