You need to look for pallets with the designation HT - Heat Treated. This means that they did not undergo chemical treatment, but heat treatment, which is harmless to human health.

The EUR or EPAL marking indicates that they are pallets of European origin. Moreover, the second designation is equivalent to HT, and the first is older and may involve different types of processing.

Never make furniture from pallets with the letters MB. This label means methyl bromide - a very potent insecticide.

DIY furniture from pallets

Let's see how such a dining table was made, at which 6-8 people can comfortably sit.

For its manufacture, we needed:

• 1 large pallet;
• sandpaper of varying degrees of graininess;
• furniture varnish;
• a brush for varnish or a rag;
• 4 legs;
• screws, nails;
• saw, nail puller and hammer.

To make such furniture from pallets with your own hands, we acted as follows:

1. First of all, the pallet had to be cleaned of visible impurities and reduced to the desired size. An electric saw was used for this, but this is not important.
2. Then the unnecessary part of the pallets was dismantled into separate boards. The most durable closed the gaps in that part of the pallet, which is designed for the table.
3. After that, the tree was sanded first with sandpaper for rough work, and then for primary and final grinding.
4. Then screwed the legs. They tried to pick them up to this table so that they did not look bulky, and also that they provided the possibility of his simple movement around the house. After all, furniture from pallets, as a rule, is rather heavy.
5. And the last step was the application of varnish. If you use a brush, the coating will be darker and denser, and if you take a cloth, it will be thinner.

Garden furniture from pallets

In order to enjoy your outdoor vacation properly, you should have a cozy place where you can lie down, read a book, take a nap or have tea with your family. Outdoor furniture should be practical and weatherproof. It is also desirable that it was inexpensive, but looked attractive. Furniture from pallets meets all these requirements. Master Class

Let's look at how to make garden furniture from pallets step by step. An example would be a bench.

To do it, you need:

• 1 pallet;
• 2.5 m of timber (5 x 10 cm)
• a box of long (at least 5 cm) screws;
• tools: nail gun, circular saw, screwdriver, hammer, meter, marker, corner.

Project time: 2-2.5 hours, the sequence of actions is as follows:

1. First, use a nail puller to tear out the central board from the pallet.
2. Then, cut the pallet into 2 parts with a saw. One will be the back, and the second will be a seat, and therefore should have a protrusion, so that it would be convenient to fasten the back there.
3. Cut the beam into 4 pieces, each 55 cm.
4. Now take the little blocks and place both parts of the pallet on them. Please note that the front edge of the seat in this project is 5 cm higher than the rear.
5. Screw one piece of the timber with 4 screws to the back, then 4 more to the seat. Thus, the legs not only hold the bench above the ground, but also fasten its parts. Repeat on the other side. Then tighten the front legs, making sure that they stand exactly at right angles to the ground.
6. For added strength, back up the center of the bench at an angle, screw a few screws into the edge of the backrest and seat.
7. From the board, which was torn from the pallet, you can now make armrests. If its length is not enough, then you can tear a piece of wood from the bottom edge of the pallet.

In order to make it more pleasant to sit on a bench, it is advisable to acquire a mattress or pillows.
